Slow On-screen Response Time Issue

Hi,
Since installing the game last weekend on my Windows 7 laptop, I have been having a constant problem navigating through each screen and menu in the game.

When I move the mouse over each link, it takes a while - up to a second maybe - for the links to light up and allow me to click on them. It's like there is a lag time. This makes navigating the game incredibly slow. The problem has nothing to do with slow simming or in-game graphics - it's just navigating through each screen.

I have updated all of my drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled, played with my screen resolution, etc. I'm stumped. Has anyone had or seen this issue before? Any ideas?

I did open a support ticket a few days ago but have not heard back. Thanks!!

What "processes" do you have running in the back ground. I run OOTP on Win7 on a cheap laptop with no problems. I have had RAM issues with other games and had to clear out the garbage that auto runs when I boot up. It is tedious but has helped considerably.

Not a whole lot of big processes running that seem unnecessary. I have 4 gigs of RAM and did clean out some of the garbage background programs a while back.

It looks like the big ones that are running are a couple of Bluetooth processes that I don't think I need, so I'll figure out what I can turn off. Other than that, it's McAfee, Desktop Window Manager (I assume that's necessary?), Firefox obviously. I'm not sure what "IAStoreIcon" is; IgfxTray, and a couple others, but they aren't using up a ton of memory. I guess it's all the little ones that are adding up since the Performance tab is showing 2 gigs memory in use.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot! Any other ideas are welcome!

OOTP open or closed?

With OOTP open I have 1.8 gb in use.
OOTP eats close to a gig. I have 1.067g RAM with OOTP off.

I have 4 g of ram also, Win7 basic HP laptop.

How is your hard drive space, this is kind of a throw away question because and HDs are huge your problems do not seem to be Disk Writing problems.

Personal opinion only. McAfee and Norton are parasites.

Thanks all! Right now with OOTP open, it's using 2.3 gigs, which seems like a lot.

But here's the great news.... I've got it working like a charm and the issue seems to be fixed for now! My last ditch effort was to try a HD defrag, and I hadn't done one in a while anyway. Sure enough, problem solved and it's working super-fast. I'm pretty shocked that fixed the issue, but I'll take it!
