Pre-Game Editor?
I heard through the grapevine that the researchers have access to some kind of editor for inputting stats in the DB? If so, how about giving us paying customers access to it? Could be a solution to a bunch of problems...

I'm pretty sure I read that they're just going to leave the rosters as they are without adding the changes from the 2014 draft/free agency and will instead be focusing on pumping out the next 2015 iteration of the game a la EA.
And yeah, I saw that post too with the guy who did research telling someone they could either help out and use the editing tools you're talking about or basically be quiet and not complain about player ratings the guy was talking about. You use to be able to edit a players contract/salary or who they played for on the fly, and when that was found out to be the cause people's games crashing on a certain date their solution instead of fixing whatever caused the crashes was to limit editing to one day of season. |

The draft and FA phase already belongs to the new season, so of course they will be part of the new version. We did a lot of db updates over the last months and will continue to do so in the future.

What problems do you think could be solved by using the editor? If you let us know then perhaps we can do something about it. With regards to moving on to the 2015 rosters, of course we have to do this. The new version of the game will inevitably involve changes to the DB structure. It would be nigh on impossible to continue maintaining two versions of the DB each with different structures.

I'd still like to get the "public input" database system I mentioned a while back working, where anyone could suggest data changes and, pending review approval by the researcher responsible for the player or team involved, they'd be incorporated into the actual game db. Unfortunately, at the moment Nic, our web developer, is occupied with other things - among them, the editor for BTS, which is going to be web-based; during our meetings I spent some time with him and Francis discussing their editor, and asked about a few issues that would be relevant for the plan for FHM I had in mind, and got mostly positive answers. But it's not going to happen in the short term.

If they turn back on Editing at start of Game then somebody like me can make updated Rosters as of today minus 2013-14 Stats for you people but start date would be still be in 2013 or could be in 2014 minus 2013-14 Stats.

I would like to make the AHL into a second major league but can't do it unless editing is available. Doing editing one day out of the year isn't a very good option.

I know it is not the answer you want to hear but we think it is in the best interest off the game to limit the customization possibilities and whatever is editable work good.
