real players with fictional teams

Hi all,

As I've said on a couple of other posts I'm new to the game and I have a question for all of you. Is it possible to make up a fictional league but to use real players instead of fake ones?? Looking on some people's reports of their dynasties it doesn't look like it is, but I wanted to be sure before I tried this on my own using a fantasy draft. Is it possible?? Thanks in advance!!

It is possible, but there may be an easier way than I do it. I do it a complicated way for history purposes. The easiest way is probably to start a major league game and then change all the team names and logos, but that is only if you want all players to remain together with their current (or historical) teams. I guess you could dump everyone into the free agent pool and then hold a free agent draft.

Otherwise, for history index purposes, I start a historical league a year before I want my fictional league to start. Make sure to check that you want real rookies imported, too. That same year, create a two-team fictional league so that it is easier to delete players from it. Make sure you have no trading or free agents allowed from other leagues.

After simming one season, clear the fictional league of all players. Then add as many teams as you want to the fictional league. Next, delete the major historical league, sending all players into the free agent pool.

Finally, schedule a free agent draft for your fictional league (or manually assign players). Voila!

OK that sounds pretty involved, I'll probably give it a try but I want to get used to the game first. I just got it a few days ago and want to get the feel of it first, thanks again though for your advice!! :-)
