Trading away Alfonso Soriano
I'm desperately trying to trade away Alfonso Soriano. I'm playing as the Cubs with AI trading on hard at the beginning of the 2013 season. I'd love to get something/anything for him, but I'd settle for getting rid of his terrible salary. I can get someone to play in the outfield, so that isn't the issue at all. Any advice?

Look for teams with + $$ for your seasons then try to get whatever you can for him. Place him on waivers worst case.

Yes, I did shop him around. The only offer I got was for Ryan Howard who is owed even more money ($95 million instead of $36 million) over more years (2 years instead of 4 years).
This is not the direction I want to go. I didn't think of placing Soriano on waivers. Is he likely to get picked up by another team? If he does get picked up, do they pay his full remaining salary? Last edited by rakosnik; 03-29-2014 at 06:19 PM. |

I don't know how likely it is someone will pick him up, but if they do, they assume the remainder of his contract and are responsible for the full remainder of his salary.
