Give me a reason why I need 17

I've bought every single OOTP no questions asked since SI was still on board. There's usually been something new I've been really excited about and I've always loved supporting my favorite gaming developer. This year, though, I haven't bought it yet and I'm in a real budget crunch due to a car accident, impending surgery, and expenses for another vehicle too. I'm pretty much exclusively fantasy at this point and really don't have anything added by MLB improvements, as great as they are for the game's future.

What great feature or features does this version of the game have that I shouldn't be living without even as a fantasy player?

Here are plenty of reasons:
Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP) Game Features for Mac, PC and Linux

Plus, people seem to love the game and the vast majority feels it is a huge upgrade to OOTP 16.

Each sale helps improving the game. Literally. Each year, the company can expand a little bit. We take a good part of the revenue and put it back into the product.

Another good reason :

A big flaw was explored in the game (Free agents not signed by the AI), a show stopper. The company fixed this problem ASAP within hours. Even for the Steam-Users. This is stunning.

Some other companies would say : Hey we celebrate easter. Nobody is at work now. We will fix it on tuesday.

Not so here. Great job. Happy easter guys.

Of the reasons why I haven't been able to get the game yet, poor customer service is certainly not on that list.

The biggest reason for you in particular is probably how much faster it runs. With the multi-threading support it sims and loads much much faster.

The 3D viewing mode is also significantly improved, so there's that.

Few reasons for me.

-The leverage option in the bullpen. This is huge, imo and alone was worth the upgrade for me. Previously, you could have a scrub reliever pitch in crucial situations. Now you can set exactly who you want.

- Speed. Much faster. I don't have the fastest computer for reference.

-Look. The dark skin is gorgeous. The colors are much sharper. 16 looks so outdated in comparison (I am in a few 16 online leagues and 16 looks like an antique in comparison). I almost never play single player, but I can't put this version down.

-lots of neat little tweaks that may not stand out at first glance. GM/manager relationships, IFA spending in accounting, ability to set draft and IFA budgets, player opt-outs, if you are looking at a minor leaguer you get the parent team logo on his profile, so no longer you have to wonder 'what team is he on?'.

-The AI also seems to be smarter. One example, the up and down arrows for prospects, in the past I ignored them. This version is almost spot-on.

-The WPA graphs in box scores (in web cast mode you can see Win Expectancy out-by-out!)

-3d mode is a good start and I love seeing the pitch tracker.

All these tweaks are well worth it, imo.

My #1 reason for maintaining my annual $40 subscription.

Gotta love retained earnings.

I'm gonna be the contrarian here and say you probably should focus your expenses on more important life matters with what you're dealing with in that original post.

If you need us to convince you, you could probably hold off for a few months until you're more financially stable to be honest.

simplest reason imaginable - value. Every year I spend 1000s of dollars on things I get only single day use out of.

every year I buy OOTP and then use it about 300 times a year. OOTP costs fractions of a penny per use and for me provides better value then any other thing I spend money on.
