Minor-league contracts that turn into major league contracts

I have a question. maybe a dumb question, but im already over budget as it is, and cant afford to be adding any added money to my payrole.I needed to fill out my minor league system, mainly my AAA team. Signed a few veteran guys (Yu Darvish, Tyler Anderson, among others) to minor league deals. The kicker is their deals turn into major deals worth no less than 1.5 million IF they get promoted before 30 days into the season.

My question is, can I still have them around the big team for spring training, just to see what they have, and then send them down on their minor league contracts after TC?

Or will promoting them now, the day before Spring training opens, count as a promotion and turn their contracts into major contracts?

You can put them on your spring training roster and they'll be a non-roster invitee. Don't make the mistake of putting them on your active roster or else they'll automagically be added to the 40-man and the Major League deal will kick in.

You can put anyone in your organization on your Spring Training roster - they don't have to be on your MLB active roster, or even on your 40-man roster. Just take care to send them back down to the minors before the MLB season starts if you don't want their contracts to kick in early.

You would have to make other moves to get them on MLB Roster.

Make sure you read the info correctly.

I think it says they get the guaranteed major league contract if they are promoted. And they have the option to go to free agency if they are not promoted before the 30th day of the season.

So, you can't just stash them in AAA
And if you call them up they are going to cost you

they will always become free agents in 30 days so if they have no shot at the big leagues it's a waste of mouse of clicks.

you are better off signing other players to strictly minor league deals or buying some mexican players.
