In the top of the third, Sheckard picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fourth, a two-run double by Beckley made it a one-run game. Burch then tied the game with a two-out RBI single.

In the top of the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Tinker brought the go-ahead run home with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the seventh, Charlie Rhodes took the mound for the Cardinals.

In the top of the ninth, with bases empty and two out, Jack W Taylor took the mound for the Cardinals. After Schulte reached, Steinfeldt tripled to bring Schulte home with a big insurance run.

In the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on first and two out, Shannon popped to first to end the game.

The Cubs overcame three errors to get the win.

With the count full, Phillippe hit Sheckard with a pitch to bring home another run. Slagle grounded to first to bring Schulte home with a run. The Cubs then reloaded the bases with two out allowing the pitcher Brown to deliver a two-run single to complete the five-run first.
