No. The changes will only apply going forward. It won't have any effect on current players.

Just remember to re-import the name and ethnicity databases.

Actually I'm getting a bug with 22. All the international free agents (amateur & established) are showing up with names that don't match where they are from.

This is on an imported game from 21 where the files were used.

Try re-importing the names DBs and see if that helps. if not, you should report this in the bugs forum.

I was able to fix it. The files need to be renamed first_names_english & names_english for 22.

Sorry to pester you all, but it's been a long time since I customized these kinds of files. The "default_data" file is zipped; do I have to unzip it, then copy the files in to the "database" subfolder, then re-zip the file?

Don't know if I'm understanding your question, but:

Unzip the files.
You should have a first and last name file (2 files)
Copy those 2 files to your database folder, overwriting the original name files.
Open your game and go to League Settings>Database, and re-import the names database.
Really no need to re-zip anything.

Thanks, I was assuming the game could only read "default_data" if it were zipped backbup again.

As Cornfed pointed out above, version 22 changed the way that the names files are named. That means that Dogzilla's names files need to be renamed in order for the game to load them automatically. So you need to add "english" to them like so:

names_english.txt

first_names_english.txt

Everything else should be fine.

I renamed the files so they will work with OOTP22 without being renamed. To work with older versions, rename them to the shorter version.

Thanks all, I am still in v.21 so the originals work fine. I was trying to install them in the pregrams folder, not the "User" folder.

Also, if you import these into an existing game you can use the "randomize nane" in the player editor to replace the most ridiculous offenders.

Yeah, I just got to international FAs and every single one of them was named "Jim Unknown" using the last version haha. Well, time to do some renaming. I updated to the new version so that won't happen again. I hope. Haha.
