In the top of the first, the Pirates loaded the bases with nobody out. Miller doubled to bring two home. Wilson brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. Storke made it a four-run inning with a two-out RBI single. Weimer left the game with an injury. With a runner on first and two out, Louis Drucke took the mound for the Giants.

In the bottom of the first, Snodgrass put the Giants on the board with a two-out RBI single.

In the top of the third, Wagner scored on a wild pitch. Abstein brought a run in with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fourth, Meyers scored from third when Clarke dropped a Tenney two-out fly ball.

In the top of the fifth, Wilson got the run back for the Pirates with a two-out RBI single. Wilson went on to score from third when Bridwell made a bad throw to first after fielding an Abstein grounder.

In the top of the seventh, Drucke struck out the side around a Wagner one-out infield single.

In the top of the eighth, Rube Marquard took the mound for the Giants.

In the top of the ninth, Wagner hit a two-run triple to move to 11th all-time with 163 career triples. Wagner then scored when Miller grounded to short.

The Pirates got 10 hits in the win while the two teams combined for 7 errors.
