Trying to figure this out

I've started a historical game starting in 1999, my goal is to go GM only and to not hand pick my job. I've been through a year and a half already without seeing any job openings. There was also an expansion during this time of Columbus and Minnesota. What am I doing wrong here? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

While I admire your choice, what kind of reputation did you give yourself? That's going to affect how long it takes to get a job. Also, because you're in historical, there's on 30 GM jobs at any given time, so it can take an extremely long time before you're offered a contract. You may want to consider a restart and just take over a team (or at the time of expansion). Whether it's offered or not you can do this by having Commissioner Mode on.

I went with greenhorn, so I might restart and take over Columbus then and work my way that way. I take it there is no current way to set up all the other leagues while playing historical? Was really hoping to have better minor and feeder system for historical play. But I'll keep working to learn this game

You can go back to 1999 and sim until July 1st 2000 and switch to commissioner mode and take over one of the expansion teams and run the expansion draft. That's always a good time.

Always love that. We did that with the 1967 L.A. Kings and are now in 1970 season in our Twitch/YouTube series.
