Thumbs down Auto-Hide Taskbar?!?

OOTP 14 runs fine at WINDOWED/MAXIMIZED settings.

However, the same setting on OOTP 15 dumps me to full screen mode unless I auto-hide my taskbar. I simply do not want full screen NOR do I want to auto-hide my taskbar.

Why can't 15 run WINDOWED/MAXIMIZED as 14 does?!?

It does if your screen resolution is high enough.

Yes, I know it does that by default - any way to prevent that?

I mean if, 14 can run fine in a max window, why can't 15?

The default resolution was changed in this version to not be 1024 x 768. The native resolution allows for widescreen monitors to be better supported. You can even take the OOTP window and click and drag it to make everything smaller and larger. This change allows for much more information to be seen by default on many screens.

I posted this in the Bug Reports thread. It's kind of a workaround I used with OOTP14 (haven't tested with 15 yet) because I didn't like how little vertical screen real estate I had to work with if I had the Windows taskbar turned on, but I also hated hiding the taskbar completely. Hopefully it serves as a workaround for some.

With OOTP14 I got into the habit of setting my taskbar to auto-hide when I first started OOTP so that it would get the full resolution to work with. But then, after OOTP14 was open, I'd change the taskbar back. What happened (at least on my laptop) was that OOTP took advantage of the full screen when it was open and had focus (and went over the taskbar), but if I hit Alt-Tab to get to another open application, my taskbar would still be there for everything else. That ended up working nicely for me, because it allowed me to get more screen real estate for OOTP while not completely losing my taskbar.

Not sure if this works with OOTP15, and I admit it's a bit of a hassle (especially if I forget to do it), but since I usually leave OOTP open anyway, it's not so bad for me.

1366x768 is my native res. right now and 14 is good with it but 15 dumps to full screen.

It goes automatically to fullscreen if you have less than 700 pixel in height available for the game window. If it wouldn't, then lots of screens would get cut off. However, I can change that to 680 pixel (the minimum res of OOTP 14) if people demand it

I would, for one! Thank you.

Any way to override the auto fullscreen in the CFG files? I've poked around in there to no avail. . .

I second this. It's insanely annoying to me to run it in full screen. Thanks Markus!

I would prefer it not be changed. The windows button in between CTRL and ALT takes you right to your desktop.

Requiring you to do more keystrokes than the last version for no discernible benefit is NOT an improvement in the product.

I tried resizing the game screen it wont allow it even if i remove the bottomheader. Thinking im doing something wrong. I was resizing it as if it was a website and needing to resize its window.
