Clemente Hitting Streak Reaches...
The Great One, Roberto Clemente now has the longest hitting streak in any OOTP League I have ever played:

I would be interested in seeing your league set up. It looks like Clemente is doing this against some of the best teams of the 70s and 80s.

You've got it, I basically design a league each year made from WS champs, pennant winners or really good 2nd place finishers. The National League Clemente is plowing thru right now includes : 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers 1976 NY Mets 1986 NY Mets 1979 Montreal Expos 1964 Philadelphia Phillies 1969 Chicago Cubs 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates 1967 Stl Cards 1975 Cincinnati Reds 1986 Houston Astros 1974 LA Dodgers 1999 Arizona Dbacks 1970 SD Padres 1993 SF Giants 1969 Atlanta

In real life, what was Clemente's longest hitting streak? I saw the guy take batting practice in Cincinnati once before a Pirates-Reds game when I was very young and the ball just jumped off his bat like nobody I'd ever seen before or since. Unfortunately, he never played in the game because they said he had a slight injury.

Wow, that list shows how difficult a long hitting streak is. I would have guessed a young Mays would have had a longer run than he had.

wow, broke the NL record of 44 by Pete Rose. I like your name and avatar. How many people remember Ron Swoboda's catch in the '69 WS?

The story says 46 game streak on the line, but I counted the games by hand in his season game by game log and it was 45 straight with no hits in game 46., so I guess that news item could be clarified a bit for the future
Anyway it was quite memorable and great fun for me, hope some of you enjoyed following it as well. BTW he got 3 hits the next game after the streak officially ended.
