Major League Stadiums - new Workshop Mod

I have just posted a new mod on the Steam Workshop for OOTP20 titled Major League Stadiums. There are a total of 152 stadiums in this mod. Subscribe and download the mod, then go to Workshop Central in OOTP and install.

Make sure that when you create your league that you go to League Settings>Historical and make sure "Automatically expand league" is enabled. This feature will make sure that teams relocate properly or have their team name change as needed as well as load the new info needed to process the ballpark files. This is enabled by default when creating a league so be sure to leave it enabled to get the most functionality from the mod.

When you create a new league these stadiums will load and if you have historical progression options enabled you can get the new ballparks to load at the beginning of each season by going to "League Settings>Edit Ballparks>Actions>Auto-import all ballparks". You will be prompted with a screen that should already be in the ballparks folder, so just press select and everything should update. After selecting "Auto-import all ballparks" all of the parks will get reloaded and if there are new ones that season they should come up for the appropriate team. There are custom parks for every team every season beginning in 1901.

When OOTP does its own updates though you will probably need to reinstall the mod because OOTP will always reinstall the era_ballparks file in the database file overwriting this modified version that makes these stadiums load properly. So if OOTP updates, just remember to reinstall the mod as well.

If anyone finds any issues with any particular ballparks not updating after going through those steps please let me know. I found I had a problem when switching to Kauffman Stadium at the beginning of the 1973 season, but as far as I can tell this is now fixed after I updated a file. With 152 stadiums in the file it is not impossible I may have made another error like this at some point.

This mod works like a charm. I'm afraid it's probably made my ballparks mod obsolete. Two real differences: (1) Garlon's mod requires replacing the era_ballparks.txt file after each new OOTP build is installed; and (2) my mod uses mostly real photos for 2D park images. But Garlon's mod is smaller in size and probably easier to keep updated.

Please try the mod now. I took it down for a bit while I was testing a few things.

First, thanks for all the hard work on our behalf. Can these ballparks be used when and if we want, or is it some automatic thing, where we can 't have a fictional team play in Crosely or whatever?

How do we find this? I don't actually know what Steam is, nor what a steam workshop is. Is Steam a website? Can't you just include the link?

Steam is a site/service for buying games. OOTP is available through Steam, but not exclusively through Steam. If you have purchased the game through Steam you have access to the Workshop for Steam games that support mods. it doesn't sound as though you purchased the game through Steam. I will see if we can get the mod up somehow for other users. The mod installs automatically if you "subscribe" to the mod through Steam, but if we make it available some other way it will require you to install the files in the correct folders yourself.

You may also play with these stadiums with any team in any season by turning off the "Automatically expand league" setting. For example, in my league perhaps I want the Cubs to play in Fenway Park 1912-1925. To do this go to the Team Home Screen>Settings>Edit Ballpark>Park Profile and type in the exact ballpark name that you want from the list in the description (if you don't type it exactly the same this will not work) and then go to Actions>Auto-import data from file into this park. You can now have any of the 152 parks (182 if you include the 30 modern stadiums that come with the game) assigned to any team in your league and adjust these as you want.

So wish I could use this mod, but I'm a 2D guy and sadly dealing with the silly earthquake shakes makes mods like this too much work to use. So sad., Having it change from broad daylight to pitch blackness between pitches is so important to baseball.

Running on Steam- parks not showing in 3D mode. In 2D mode they show, but no players or ball movement shows when balls are hit- just player names in their positions and a moving ball coordinate. Can anyone help!?

Will this work in OOTP 19 or just 20?

If you go to the main menu in OOTP 20 at the bottom you can select "Settings". From there go to the "3D & Facegen" menu. The first option is 3D Features and Open GL support. This needs to be enabled. If your park models are not loading automatically then maybe OOTP updated since you first subscribed to the mod. When this happens you simply need to go into the Workshop again and select reinstall to get it working.

With regards to OOTP 19, I may make it available for that as well.

I am not sure why you are having trouble with the mod. I have had no other reports of it not working. It should work if you create a new league.

Try this if you want to get them to load in a current league:

you can get the new ballparks to load at the beginning of each season by going to "League Settings>Edit Ballparks>Actions>Auto-import all ballparks". You will be prompted with a screen that should already be in the ballparks folder, so just press select and everything should update.

Will they not work if you add in-season?

Ok, if you had started a league before installing the mod then the issue is that your stadium names may not have imported the way the mod needs them. You can still get around this though. Go to a team in your league and select settings>edit ballpark. Under Park Profile type in the exact name of the ballpark from the list in the first post and press enter. Then go to Actions>Auto-import data from file into this park.

For example, type in Fenway Park 1934-1939and do those steps and that park should load for any team you want. So you can use any of the 152 parks with any team any season.

I posted an updated version of the mod on the Workshop. The discrete factors are now the default when the mod gets installed. The original quadratic factors are still available in a file called era_ballparks_quadratic, and there is another file with the ballparks set to 1.000 for every factor called era_ballparks_1000 for those who want to use them. These files will be installed in the database folder and simply need to be renamed era_ballparks, replacing the one currently in the folder. Remember, the era_ballparks file is now the discrete factors, so just reinstall the mod after downloading the new update and they will be the new factors that are used in the game after each season.

There was also an issue with Angel Stadium of Anaheim not loading that I believe is now corrected.

Love the work on these stadiums as it adds a great immersive element! I have been away for a few years so this is my first time trying 3d models. I am having a problem. I subscribed and downloaded via steam and I am using the proper database file and the correct stadium loads as i move to the next season. The problem I am having is that when i import the stadiums to get the 3d, it loads the 3d image but changes all the park factors to 1.00 and causes the capacity to raise up to 38K or 43k+. No matter what I do from this point forward, it cannot be fixed. I am sure it's something amateurish that I am doing but please advise. I am starting from 1871 and this issue happens as it moves to 1891 to load Exposition Park and Polo Grounds. It has happened in other test years as well.
Thanks in advance!

I suggest just reinstalling it from the Workshop menu in OOTP. It needs to be reinstalled after every OOTP update and there was just an update released a couple days ago.
