Card value cap in tournaments
How do you determine card value cap in tournament games?

Add the overall rating for each of the 25 cards. A blank roster spot counts as 40.

Yeah, the 40 blank is probably what threw you?

The two empty ones count as 40 each.

Unless you hit 1500 (or whatever the cap is) on the nose, it seems to me if you have any low 40s SP unsung heroes you could throw them on the empty spots. Or if you do use guys who are exactly 40 like Humber, Galaragga to name a couple. There's no off days unless you wrap up your round before the rest of the series' are complete. At least for extra arms if the bullpen gets taxed or wanting to save the high leverage guys in blow outs. Or make make sure most of your relievers are SP type stamina.

Yep. A 40 rated iron doesn't cost any extra points to be on the roster. If they help keep the regulars rested over a long tournament, it might be worth it.
