From the December 1891 issue of Mitt Slingers Magazine...Peter Jackson and Bob Fitzsimmons are both in training camp in Los Angeles preparing for their championship contest next month...Perhaps yielding to pressure from the international sporting press the IBU has mandated that George Chuvalo the NABF champion and James Corbett the ABA champion must meet to decide who will get the next crack at the world championship ....The championship committee however, has added this could be altered if Fitzsimmons emerges the winner against Jackson...Tom Sharkey is angling for a fight with either Phila. Jack O'Brien or newcomer Gus Ruhlin...George Godfrey, after recent wins over Frank Slavin and John L Sullivan, is said to be wondering what he has to do to get a match with one of the top contenders...For his part, Sullivan is complaining in the pages of the Boston Globe that he should be ranked much higher by the IBU considering he has wins over three men currently included in the prestigious Top Ten.

Clipped from the December issue of Mitt Slingers Magazine...Jackson is a heavy favourite at almost 3 to 1 in most betting parlours...special trains have been laid on to bring in sports from all over the west coast...The Sydney Mail has sent a reporter to cover the fight as have papers from London, Paris, Berlin and Stockholm...Most major US dailies will have men on site to send back wire reports as rounds progress..There is talk of Tom Sharkey meeting Gus Ruhlin on the undercard...Interest in the main event has been such that the Olympic Club may charge as much as $75 for a ringside seat...It is reliably rumoured that several wealthy sports including "Diamond Jim Brady" himself, have pooled contributions to increase the fight's purse to at least $24,000...
