I don't really tread around these parts as much as I used to, but when I do, the first thing I check to see is if this story has been updated.
Tib, this is amazing. Just out of curiosity, in this "book" how much of the way through are we?

About two-thirds, I think. It depends on ITP and how much more of a career Dave is going to have. I really don't know because the game determines everything on the field.
I am preparing to begin the beginning of the end.

Quick update:
I've been hard at work switching my computer over to a new one with Win7. It was nerve-wracking, to say the least. I was absolutely paranoid about losing my Short Hop league files from ITP and OOTP5. Yeah. OOTP5. It's a dinosaur and I wanted to upgrade everything, so I downloaded OOTP8 free version. Wow. Good thing it was free. I uninstalled it within 20 minutes. You know how when you go to a lot of bars and hit on a lot of women you can just tell when one of them is going to give you a disease? Like that. I have OOTP11, but the OOTP5 files are incompatible, so I began to despair of finding a newer version of OOTP that can take OOTP5 files. The forums here were full of information, but nothing concrete, so I started worrying whether Dave's saga could have an end. But Short Hop is not an OOTP game, it's an ITP game. I found my license and ITP is just fine, thank God. But I run the ABF and the CBA on OOTP. Long story short, the good folks at elicense got me my OOTP5 order number within 24 hours - during the holidays, no less. I am back in business. Of course, this means no face gen pics of Von Jones or Moose McCammon, but you'll have to just use your imagination. And it means Dave's saga is still in the hands of ten year old technology and game engines, but I'm not worried. Hell, I'm just happy I got the whole thing moved onto the new rig without having to mourn the single greatest literary undertaking of my life. Onward!

It's kind of amazing that this story started 10 years ago. The Dave Driscoll story was one of the things that got me interested in OOTP (and ITP back then).
10 years is a very long time to keep up with one thing and this story still catches my imagination when I read it and I keep finding myself going back through and re-reading different chapters occasionally. So, with that, Tib, I thank you for your contribution to these message boards regardless of the future of "Short Hop". Thank you!

This came out when I was 3, I'll be 15 in a month. I wish I was old enough back then to read this and appreciate the glory of Dave Driscol and all I'm happy I read this while it may never be finished you have to appreciate it for what it is, the best story on this website.

Life intrudes, don't you know. I have been slowly compiling pages but they are not nearly ready to post. The Comanches are going to have a tough time of it in the near future, but the Driscoll clan will expand by one soon. Thanks to everyone for their support over the years while I've been away. Hang in there. It's crunch time in real life, but Dave will be back. I promise!

That post up in General Discussions by tylertoo about getting his book published reminded me of this thread, so I visited to see how it's going. Looking forward to when it gets going again.

It breaks my heart that the last two pages of this thread cover a decade.
