Brand new here... with a whole lotta Newbie questions

I came to to OOTP by way of:

- Microleague Baseball (and miss it very much)
- Earl Weaver
- Strat-o-matic Computer Baseball

And now here I am... hooked. I'm obviously way more accustom to the Strat-o Computer baseball interface so I have a really bad habit to do things the the Strato way in OOTP. The two programs are entirely different , so I've been fighting with OOTP quite a bit... and banging my head against a wall... but that said, ootp is so rich and engrossing.... And will be SO much fun once I get the hang of it...

So, bear with me... My questions may be a bit obvious, but I'm coming from a Strat-o world... Here goes...

1. Say I start a new League (game), even a new MLB 2010 game, set up my rosters, have a draft, etc... Then the season starts and I screw something up. How can I reset the season w/o redoing the draft roster? Do I have to just delete it and redo it, redo the draft and everything?

2. Say I scheduled an exhibition game... And I messed up setting the line up, or started the wrong pitcher and wanted to do over... How do I quit out middle of a actual game and w/o saving it and do over?

3. I see the regular 2010 schedule that starts on 4/4, but nothing before that...Say I wanted to play full spring training before opening day. Is there anyway to get the Spring Training Schedule in a 2010 Major League season?

Again, I'm coming from SOM Computer baseball so, if anyone can relate it in some way to that, it would be great...

Thanks for your help!

There is no undo button in OOTP. You have to restart completely.

You can't. Of course, you can crash the program so that it doesn't save, but that can lead to problems and I generally advise against it.

Not that I'm aware of.

True, but you could save the league as a template or completely backup the .lg folder to have a save point.

Of course. And as I was typing this up I thought of mentioning that. But I'm lazy.

Jeeze... seems pretty unforgiving, doesn't it?

I've been playing for eight years. Just used to it by now, I guess. It hasn't ever really bothered me - you can't change your mind on the field, either.

Yes, just go into league setup, functions, release all players/clear rosters. They will all become FA's. Or you can release all players and schedule an inaugural draft if you wish. You can also delete the league and player histories.

Although there is no undo, one thing you can do is backup the league. Then you can restore from backup if you want to. So if you backup just before your draft you can start over without starting a new game.

OOTP XI is still new but prior to X there were reports of leagues getting corrupted. Making a back up every season is not a bad idea.

Right, but that doesn't help much if you're already into August and decide to reset. You're still in August.

Umm, if you release all and schedule inaugural draft your league will restart, not stay in August.

Ignore me then, I should have known that.
