Does the "Bench when fatigue %" setting not work?

Hi,

On one of my teams, instead of setting a fixed number of "every xth game" for utility players, I have given my starting lineup a "Bench when fatigue % -> 85" setting in the Player Strategy screen, making sure that the Override Team Strategy Settings option is selected.
Now I see that the AI has allowed 4 of my starters versus RHP to slip to as low as 58% tiredness status.

Does this setting not work the way I think it does (i.e. set a percentage and then leave utility players on 'If starter tired' setting), or is this a bug?

Thanks.

Edit: this is after the first 8 games (all losses) in a 19 game stretch with no days off... This team is now 13-12 after starting the season 13-2... so tired of these 'random' streaks every year.

Players can drop below the amount - the setting is checked before the game. So if the player was at 86%, then that's above the amount so they would play, and they may end up after the game at the lower total.

The other caveats are having a valid and eligible backup, so if one player is the backup for 3 or 4 positions, then you can often get the case where all 3 of the starters drop below the mark, and it will take a couple days for them to spell each one individually.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the response. One of the players this is happening with is my primary catcher v. RHP (McCarver.) His backup (Freehan) only starts v. LHP.
I can see in the game logs that McCarver is getting the odd day off, but overall his fatigue is trending down (or can fatigue drop from above 85% to 58% in one game?) Could it be that players are only ever benched for one game at a time, regardless of whether they get above the 85% treshold again?

Also his rest status says '58% - Tired (Bench <85%)'. Does this indicate he will be sitting out the next game?

Thanks again.

They could drop from 86 to 58 -the fatigue scale isn't entirely linear, so it's not like they drop by exactly X points per game, it will vary a little.

The setting showing there is more to remind you about it. It doesn't 100% mean that he would sit (if there's no valid backup for him, he would still play), but yeah, if you have a backup who's not otherwise benched or elsewhere in the lineup, then he should play.

Catcher fatigue is high, so sitting out roughly 1/3 games is about accurate. Although even for catchers, sitting for a game will likely bring them from 58 up to the 90s, I would expect, so he won't sit a second game in a row (unless if he was scheduled to sit against a lefty for example). So yeah, he might end up kind of yo-yo-ing around those marks.

Does the" bench when fatigue % " setting not affect when you use daily lineups?? I was under the impression it would, that way I can use my daily lineups the best I'd like to and if I do pick a Guy who is below his threshold they will substitute him automatically , and yes I do have allowing substitute to start checked. But I have a really good defensive second baseman and he's durable so I have his threshold set to 70, He's now sitting at 25% I find it hard to believe he started his last game at 70 , and is now all the way down to 25? Or is that the case here, and he will be benched if I try to insert him in the lineup next game. Just need to figure out if this works or not if it does work I just need to send my thresholds higher, Not I guess I need to manually guess when they are going to reach their threshold

Also if I set it to 100 for my wrecked players, will that mean that they will bench 100% of the time, or will they bench him as soon as he drops below 100 , which is How I imagine it would work
