need help - goals

Hi! Not quite new to OOTP but i haven't played in some years so i'm in need of help/information

So i'm playing this Standard Game (real players) playing as the GM & manager of the Hanshin Tigers... ***.

Playing in challenge mode, trying to fulfill the different goals that are set for me so that i can keep my job.

One of those goals is "Acquire a MVP Award winner". So i go ahead and acquire Tetsuto Yamada who's won this ward in 2015... and then, stupefaction...!! "No progress"

Why is that??

didn't meet the qualifications... i don't know for sure what they are, but that's too many years in the past, best guess.

one note, you do not need to achieve all goals. how many you can ignore depends on more than one variable... team success and owner personality being the 2 biggies.

if you are winning a ton, i bet you can mostly ignore the owner... just hit the easy goals, when convenient and only the ones that don't mess up your plans.

if you've had a bunch of bad years, it may not matter even if you hit every single goal and continue to lose... you will lose your job eventually due to failure at some point... in general, trying to meet owner goals will reduce likely # of wins, so walk that line carefully.

there's a thread about the "hr" hitter goal... how many is considred a home run hitter or is it based on power rating? i don't recall but both qualifications make rational sense and just depends on what direction ootp chose to go with it. as you can tell, i turn this feature off, LoL... it's a game not a job. 1 incompetent "boss" in my life is WAY more than enough.
