I could use more info on bidding process

I must be missing something. In another post, someone said that if you set a max bid of say, 1500 points and end up being the highest bidder with the next bid at 1000 points, you would win the card for 1001 points. I had a scenario where I was the only bidder shown and 1000 PP was listed as minimum. I put a max of 2000 and won the bid for 2000. Why wasn't I only charged 1001 points?

While I would be guessing, it could be that someone tried to snipe your auction at 5 seconds and bid 2000 against you. As the original bidder you win the tie, and it might not have time to update the # of bidders.

It's not explained anywhere, but what you need to do is...place your low bid first. Then, while you are currently the high bidder, place another higher bid. Your current bid won't go up, but will automatically increase to match any incoming bids up to your limit.

That's actually not really the best way to do it, since your bid is deducted from your available points. You might not have enough points left to raise the bid.

Best way to do it is just bid your highest price first. The auction house will only use enough to top the next highest bid. The remainder will stay in reserve and only be used if someone else bids you up.

Hmmm...then I guess this is a bug report, as that's not what I've been experiencing. And it appears OP has been encountering the same thing. For example, if a card is set to a minimum bid value of 25 and I bid 30, then I'll pay 30. But if I bid 26 and *then* 30, I'll pay 26 (unless someone else pushes my bid up).

That's not how it works. If the minimum bid is 25 AND there are no previous bids, then your bid of 30 will show as 25 but 30 will be deducted from your PP. If I then come along and bid 26, your bid will now be shown as 26 (first bid wins the tie) and you will still be the high bidder. If I come back and bid 35, I will now be the high bid with 31, and your 30 PP will be refunded to you.

OK, I tested the auction again over lunch and it appears to be working as others have suggested. So either I'm crazy or whatever was going on last night has fixed itself.
