DB Newbie
Though I have played since OOTP9, this is my first go around with the databases. So, can I copy and paste from spritze into a blank excel spreadsheet to create a database and expect the league to still import players in their actual years as the game moves forward. Or would I just import the players I want into the league and delete all those I don't.

1) Save as a CSV file not Excel
2) Delete or rename historicaldatabase.odb 3) Release a squid into the wild

I have a couple questions that I think are related. I just downloaded and installed the Spritze DB, and it seemed to be working okay, until I noticed two problems:
1) For player "real life stats" in a fictional league, it shows all players remaining with one team for their entire career. This seems to hold for players that switched from MLB to foreign leagues, as well. The stats themselves may be correct, I haven't checked. 2) I tried to start a 2014 Historical season as the Oakland A's. Several players appear on the roster who played for Oakland in prior years, but not in 2014 (Marco Scutaro, Chris Carter, Rajai Davis, etc). I am assuming that I did something wrong in installing the new database. Any ideas? Thank you. |

You did nothing wrong.
Players appear only on the organization they spent the most time with. This is due to the way OOTP works with Independent leagues. One day I hope this changes so players can just appear as they did IRL. Minor league stats are MLE's usually based on a players real minor league stats. 1871-1911 and 1941-1974 are done this way. 2014 is not.

Spritze - I really appreciate the quick response!
Does the regular OOTP database work this way, as well? Meaning, if I want to replay 2014, is there a database that will load teams with their 2014 rosters? Or do I have to do this manually via the importer? |

Just use the one that comes with the game then as I am unclear as to what you are trying to accomplish by creating your own db.

From the forums I got the impression that your database was more complete/accurate than the one that comes with the game (which I assume it is!), but I guess for what I'm looking for, the standard database is sufficient.
Thanks for your help! |
