Congratulations to the team
..
Just stopping by to say "Congratulations" to Markus, Steve and all the gang on the completion of another edition of gaming's finest text simulation. I've been a member of the community since 2001 and can remember helping design the portion of the game that covers on-line leagues. I founded and ran the old "Sundown" league which was the very first to use OOTP as a base engine. And it's probably been over a decade since I've been in any on-line league at all. Several years since I've had the time to sit down and properly play OOTP. Now that I have the time I'm quite looking forward to seeing how it has matured and progressed. A great achievement to conceive and finish a project as massive as this and a hearty congratulations to the team at Out of the Park Baseball Developments. Sq .. |

Ha! Thank you, thank you for the invitation Deja Bru. I was looking and I've been on the forums 8 YEARS longer than you but have 1,260 LESS posts. So, that's on me. I'll try. I just read a lot here. Listen to you guys go back and forth and sit quietly. I've noticed I learn more if I listen instead of argue or shout no matter my personal feelings. Sometimes, I'm wrong and I actually realize that. So, I sit quietly. I was thinking a bit and as I rove through the game .. It might be really cool, for nostalgia's sake, to put "Sundown" back up for one season again. The league that started it all for OOTP (and for FPSBBPRO:98 too). Maybe make it an All-Star league with Markus and Tennessee (uh, that's Mr. Kuffrey) and all the gang we had way back when as team owners. Hell, we might even let Nuke own the Yankees (Keith Newcomb .. if he's still alive and didn't catch on fire or some such dastardly fate). Just thinking out loud but if we get some feedback and some league and forum and developer heavyweights, I might be interested in running something like that again. It was a helluva league back then .. we had the editor of PC Gamer and the lead programmer of Red Baron and the lead programmer of the Jane's flight sims and David Laprad and Bill Abner .. and I was General Manager of The GA-Sports Network for eUniverse, Inc at that time so .. it was a place for game developers and designers and the media of all facets to come together and talk some smack and play a game. Sundown .. those were some great great times. Sq .. |

Actually, I am wondering if that is a bug (no offense). I mean, the 128 out of 100. Never seen that before.

Nope, not a bug. You actually can score more than 100.

I'd add my thanks to the beta team and the support staff (Bowtie, Old timer and others) who give so much of their time. Well done!!

Double LOL.
I have never gotten more than 100 and a 100 on the nose maybe once or twice in 62 "years." Who knew you could outperform the scale, so to speak? I guess that shows me something.

Deja .. A few years after the one I posted .. I have the difficulty set up really really high so maybe that is why it gave a 100+ score. I actually don't know. And I have the ratings set for 1-100. Sq .. Last edited by Squonk; 06-27-2013 at 08:50 PM. Reason: .. |

Still, doesn't that seem like a bug? I mean, the screen says 148 out of 100. And it's unrelated to whether you have player/coach ratings set to exceed 100.

I think it considers your team's payroll in the calculation. I once received a 197/100 with a great team that was 30th in payroll.

" ... and the hits just keep on coming ... " ( And/Or .. 97X ... *POW* .. The Future of Rock and Roll ... 97X ... *POW* .. The Future of Rock and Roll ... 97X .. ) .. and I didn't even win the championship this year. All I can think is that I keep cranking up the difficulty by squeezing the finances tighter and tighter for Cleveland, eliminating the DH for American League clubs (Tribe is in the AL Central) ... cranking up the trade difficulty higher and higher and making injuries more and more frequent. And other things which escape me at the moment .. Maybe that all adds to the score and why it exceeds 100. Sq .. |

:-) Not a big movie guy. I just remember that from many, many moons ago. I was kinda explaining what I see in this edition of OOTP. It's like it's the most brilliant program in the history of computer programs .. and then .. "How much is a Hershey bar, Raymond?" "'Bout a hundred dollars" "Yeah .. well .. how much is one of those new compact cars?" "'Bout a hundred dollars" :-) Sq .. |
