Advice on setting up an historical leauge using..

Teams from various eras’.

So I’m finally ready to set up my first real league after a month of playing around, testing, and reading the manual. I’m feeling much more comfortable with the game now but still some questions on the historical league part.

My first league is going to be made up of the all time greatest Red Sox Teams from 1901-2011. These are what I believe were the best Sox season this century and last. . (Yes I know sox fans 2011 was a total bust, but they were dubbed at the start of the season to supposedly be one of the best teams ever, yikes)

Anyway, I basically made it a one league set up with three divisions. The schedule is unbalanced so the teams will play mostly within their own division. Playoffs include division winners plus one wild card team. 2 Series, best of 7.

Division 1:

1903 REDSOX
1912 REDSOX
1915 REDSOX
1916 REDSOX
1918 REDSOX

Division 2

1932 REDSOX (Actually one of the worst teams but though it would be fun to include them)
1946 REDSOX (WS Lost)
1967 REDSOX (WS LOST)
1975 REDSOX (WS LOST)
1977 REDSOX (Great power hitting team, weak pitching)

Division 3
1986 REDSOX (WS Lost)
1990 REDSOX (The clemens years)
1999 REDSOX (The nomar, pedro, Years)
2004 REDSOX (WS WIN) First in 86 Years.
2007 REDSOX (WS WIN) 2 in 3 years.
2011 REDSOX (the "collapse")

Im looking for advice on how I should set this up. It is going to only be a one season play and want to make it as realistic as possible. How would the teams perform in REAL LIFE if this were possible? A little field of dreams scenario.

Here is how I want to set it up: (I put in bold the settings I need advice on, but please feel free to give me input on any of these settings)

First off, should I just start with importing a league from any Year? For example setting the league directly up from the historical menu, I choose a league from 1967 then delete all the teams (other than the 1967 sox) and import each Red Sox team year I want to use? Is this the best way to start?

* Lehman database, Real Stats, Recalc. (Although im only playing one season)
* No trades, player development off, no injuries, no draft, no free agents, No minors, ghost and reserve players only.

* park settings on?? (All teams will obviously be playing at Fenway)

* Potential ratings based on previous years

* Using real lineups and transactions.. (Question here is how does the actual lineup thing work if I’m not playing one particular season but various seasons with a random schedule. does this even matter??)

*Block fictional players from reaching majors. (Not sure without using minors if this even matters)

*Financial settings? I think I turned this off. However if I were playing with it on how do the different eras adjust to the financial system? For example, would the 2004 Red Sox have a huge advantage over the 1918 Red Sox because they would have more money to spend due to inflation?

*DH off. I could have gone either way with this, but since pitchers hit and were a big part of the offense in the early years, I kept it off. So Pedro and Clemens will be hitting along with Babe Ruth. Advantage= early years.

NOW THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION
When having teams from 4 totally different eras, the early years all pitching no power and teams from the steroid years and other years mixed in, HOW WOULD YOU OR HOW DOES OOTP factor this in? So in other words would I see much less complete games from pitchers in the early 1900's since most could easily pitch on 4 days rest and pitch complete games? Will there be a lot of skued stats when you’re putting the teams from the early years against teams from the 90's and 2000's. Or will using "real" stats take care of this?? Cy young should still get a high amount of complete games while Eddie Collins hits only 7 HR's which is considered high for that era. Manny Rameriz should still hit 30-40 Hrs

*When I import the teams under the League setup menu, I have an option of either "Normalize ratings against Neutral era or, darn I forgot what the other was". But does this help neutralize the outcome (stats) when putting teams up against each other from various eras?

** In the league setup, strategy menu there is an option to pick a year that best depicts the level of steels, hit and runs, pinching changes etc. you want to use for the overall league strategy. If you playing various team years how to you go about setting this so the early years pitchers don’t change as much as later years etc.?

I know this is a bit long but thank you to anyone and everyone for helping!
