No longer able to import historical players
With each attempt I get "The historical player import failed!" message. I have downloaded the patches for OOTP, but haven't changed anything else with the game since the last time I imported players, which was a few months ago.

Open the Lahman database's "master.csv" file in MS Excel. Then copy the player ID and paste it instead of typing it when importing players. Player IDs look like "ruthba01" (for Babe Ruth).

Can you explain exactly what you did do?
Importing should work OK as long as the game can find the database and you enter the ID right. IDs have the form 'first five letters of last name' + 'first two letters of first name + 01 (or occasionally 02, 03, etc...). Most of the problems generally stem from entering the ID wrong. |

I click on "Import Historical Player", then choose master.csv, then click "Confirm", then key in the player ID and the season to import and click "Import Player". The error message comes up with each attempt now. I have imported over 1200 players less than a year ago without any problems. About a month ago I added more memory to my computer and installed a new graphics card, but I wouldn't think could have caused the problem.

Was your last import in OOTP X or OOTP 9? I'm wondering if maybe you are pointing to the older database for OOTP 9. I don't believe they are compatible (but I'm not 100% sure). Just an idea.
Hmmm...I don't have access to the game at this moment. I'll see if I can come up with something later if no one has any other ideas. Last edited by TribeFanInNC; 02-27-2010 at 10:08 AM. |

Okay, now I'm getting the message: "The historical player import succeeded! The imported player is now a free agent." The only problem is the player isn't showing up.

If you're still having trouble, could you FTP me a copy of your league files using the instructions here? Thanks! Steve

Aside from me being an idiot, there was no problem after all. I did have a filter on and somehow overlooked it. Sorry for all the trouble guys. I do appreciate the help.
