Strange Message

Every time I try to update the base tables I get this message:

You cannot record your changes because a value you entered violates the settings defined for this table or list (For example, a value is less than the minimum or greater than the maximum). Correct the error and try again.

It only happens after I calculate Win Shares. I always repair anyone whose totals are messed up but that is it. (Normally that just means putting a 0 in the fielding value).

Please help

When I try to figure win shares I get a permission denied error, everything else seems to be working, does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Gentlemen,

I am having issue with multiples of the same player showing up in the results. I am attempting to moderately emulate real baseball history (using fictional players) I downloaded the db and began using after the fall of the National Association and the transition of half those teams to the National League (1876). Therefore, I played five years of one league (NA), created a new league (NL) moved half the teams to the NL, deleted the rest and created 4 new teams in the NL (to make 8). After the first NL season, I exported the CSV files and ran the db... in the results I have number of players that show up multiple times. I tried re-running with a new empty db and also tried erasing the export files and re-exporting with same results.

Any help would be appreciated... this is a fantastic tool and I look forward to using.

Hey guys. I have received some requests for this tool by PM. It wasn't updated for 14, but it does work for 13. If I have some time, I may take another shot and fixing the paths for 14. Tysok put instructions earlier in this thread, but I haven't had any luck yet.

Hey guys. Tysok just updated this for 14 and forwarded to me. I have submitted to OOTP Mods.

Huge thanks to Tysok for supporting the community (again!) even though he doesn't own the current version.

Hello all, haven't ventured much into using mods yet with OOTP (just switched from mogul), but I'm really interested in this one. Is anyone kind enough to shoot me over a pm? Thanks.

Does this mod work with OOTP15? Just curious!

I actually stumbled across this when I did a search because I was thinking about coming up with my own Win Shares program using exported csv files.

I dunno if it's working for 15 or not, but it's usually not a big problem to update if it doesn't. gbmoore usually contacts me if it doesn't work, so he either hasn't had a chance to check it yet or it works fine.

I recently did an update to it that builds the HOF stats faster (a whole lot faster) but haven't had the time to finish it off yet.

I didn't think people used Win Shares much anymore.

Can I ask what this exactly is? I was browsing the forums as well as google for accurate Hall of Fame measurements so any "undeserving" players don't get elected in.

Can someone point me in the right direction or fill me in on what exactly this file is?

It's an MS Access database that calculates win shares, along with Grey and Black ink scores and something called Hall of Fame Standard (see Baseballreference.com). gives you a way to determine who gets into the hall outside of number of homeruns and hits and wins and hard stats.
The way I've always used it is I set thresholds for the 4 main measurements..if you meet all 4 then you are obviously in. I establish criteria for 2 of 4 and 3 of 4
