Ah ha, says the man in the little box.

I created a new sample league. It started in 2006 and I ran off 2 years. Then I archived and ran off two more, archiving after each one.

So, now my almanac is there, but not for the 1st 2 years. Now, the purpose behind the almanac is to be able to look at the snap shot of your league 3 years ago. Be able to look at box scores from 4 years ago or lineups, whatever. Now, in 2006 and 2007, I had some no-hitters. When I pull up the no-hitter information, I go and look in the almanac for the news text file for that league in THAT year. I then pull the no-hitters out and parse them accordingly. Now, in this league, it can't find an almanac for 2006 and 2007. It WAS exiting the sub at that point, but I have not changed it to move to the next year. So, when it reaches 2008 or 2009, it will find the no-hitters and show them there. My sample league had no no-hitters in 2008 or 2009, figures. So, I will have to run off another season and hope one happens to really test it. However, it should work for you now.

I could pull the information from another location, I think and then give you a list of all the no-hitters, but not have links to the ones that do not exist. I will look into doing that.

The reason for the box0 was it was not displaying any box scores in the window. You was clicking on the window (you did not tell me you did that!!) and it was using the value of zero, since it was not assigned anything by the information that was on the line you clicked. Now that is solved, as if it is zero, it exits the sub.

This program requires a lot of time to use it. First, it takes a lot of time to create the HTML reports. Of course, you could cut down the scope of the data, not do a complete dump, but I strongly forbid you to do that. You defeat the purpose of the program. If you are having a disk space problem, this program is NOT one you want to use.

It also takes quite a bit of time to have my program do it's archiving. This is the nature of having a lot of data to move. It is simply copying the data over for you. This could be done with Windows Explorer, but is subject to user error or plain "I don't know how to do that". The idea is to click one time and walk away.

If it is for a league that you are playing games out, then you do not complete a season that often, so it is well worth the time to do it. Even if you complete a season every three months, it will be worth the effort to do it. The biggest downfall is for people like me. That like to sim 5-20 years to create a history. You will have to do it one year at a time, stop on December 31st, do the archiving and move on. This will slow down creating the history big time, but, there is no other way to do it.

I am going to strongly push to making the option to automate the archiving like 6.x did. I pushed it for 2006, but it was not done. I may have to take some kittens hostage this go round.

OK, I now have it displaying all of the no-hitters, even if they happened pre-almanac. If you click on one of those it will give you a 'cannot find box score error'

I also added the 1-hitters to this list.

Now, what else?

4+ homeruns for sure.
3+ homeruns not so sure about

The 5+ hits and the RBIS can be a tough one.

Well, I guess I can search for goes 5- goes 6- goes 7- etc.

Cycles should be easy

Oh, such a challenge.

I can locate all of the great hitting games, but locating the box scores are more of a pain than the pitching events. For the pitching events I was able to look in the games.csv file and find the game on that date with that starting pitcher. No problem.

With the hitters, I have to look in the players_game.csv file and I can locate the player and find his 5 hit game, but, there is no date in there. So, if he had more than one 5 hit game that year, it will cause problems.

Also discovered a bug. The singles, doubles and total bases for seasons 1 to current season -1 are not put in the CSV dump files. I will do a work around for that and put in the information.

Another bug. Under fielding, in the dump, the team is not listed. All are listed as zero. Wasted dump!

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Please help as I do not want to continue to my next year

Just go to the Almanac and delete that year that you were archiving, or it will not let you archive again.

They can be done in any order, I do the CSV dump first, since it is quicker. Then I do the HTML reports and go take a nap. When I wake up, I then run the almanac on it.

Yes you do. That is what it actually backs up. If you do not run it, the box scores and play by plays and other htmls are not created.

I do recommend that you backup using the COMPLETE, and save everything, history, minors, all. Go watch some Jerry Springer while it does it.

You will thank me for suggesting this after 10 seasons and you want to see the complete history of a rookie that came from no where.
