Anderson Utilities - AUAmmies

Another hot off the press.

This is still early, but have some sweet plans for this one.

http://www.sim2005.com/AUAmmie/default.htm

What this one does:
  • Loads in the league's amatuer players before the draft
  • Allows you to sort by any ratings
  • Allows you to display only certain positions (like thirdbase)
  • Hitters and pitchers in different grids
  • 31 fields for hitters
  • 42 fields for pitchers
What else will it be able to do when I add it:
  • Display draft history
  • Make it easy to track draftees
  • Whatever else I think of or what you suggest
  • Show players for fantasy draft before draft
  • Show free agents, free agents next year, wavier wire players
NOTE: The program will only display players if you run it AFTER the draft players are announced and BEFORE you run the draft. After the draft or before, it will display empty grids.

I did some more stuff on it.

I added a new button called DRAFT REPORT. Click on this, if you dare, and it will load in all of your draft picks over the years. NOTE: If your league is 40 or more years, it may take a minute, so be patience.

There will be several columns, 1 to as many draft rounds your league has for the ammy draft. You will see all of the draft picks in there. Click on one of their names and it will popup a career page for them.

(The career page has not been enhanced yet. It just has the year by year stats. Later, I will fill in team, league, etc. (Maybe even put splits in).

This really flew on a league with just several years of history, but when ran with a league that had 50 seasons, it was a little sluggish when sorting. I will work on that.

Also will be working on another layout, not sure if I like it.

Anyhow, give it a look at and let me know what you think.

Make it easy to track draftees

I'm curious, does this mean that as the draft happens, we can see the progress? This would be really cool for online leagues, especially if in the future you could find a way for teams to make draft picks in the program, and then email the pick to the commissioner.

I don't know if you're familiar with the old BOSI utility, but probably the best thing about it was its draft utility. You could login to a website that had the draftee info on it, make your draft list, and then as soon as your pick was up the program would make your pick based on your list and go on to the next person. It was great because then you didn't have to wait for the commish and the commish didn't have to try to follow the draft so closely. There were a number of things I wish were added to it (automatic email notifying the next few up and the commish, make a draft list based on different player characteristics not just by specifically identified players, etc), but as basic as it was it was great. It'd be great to have a simple program that would do just that again.

That is not what I had meant by 'track draftees', what I meant is the ability to easily look at some high or low draft picks and see how they turned out many years later.

However, you did get my brain working on thinking about something like that. If it is doable, that is the question.

I have updated it again.

I changed the layout to show 10 tabs, 1-10. Tab 1 shows all of the #1 picks, tab 2 shows all of round 2 picks, etc. Tab 10 shows 10 or higher. Do you think we need more than 10?

I also now have it loading hitters stats if he was a hitter and pitchers stats if he was a pitcher.

Next, I will work on enhancing the stats.

That is a good idea as well, and I will definetely use this utility.

But, i'm hoping something like the BOSI utility that kq76 described comes out.

I updated the program to add a team pull down list so you can just see the picks for a certain team.

I also added a RESTART under the FILE command. This will close the program and quickly load it again.

Use this when you want to 'start all over'.
