Parade of stiffs
My universe is getting huge and I am in constant need of more and more stiffs to pad records. I have been slowly making new bundles of them to add using the tomato can template from corner work. I thought that I would post them here on the off chance that someone else might want them. It takes so much time to fiddle around with these that I was hoping it might seem more worthwhile if someone else could actually use them too.
These are made for my universe so they may need to be tinkered with. Here is what each one contains: 160 fighters broken into 5 geographical groupings as follows: AABU - Africa and Arabia APBC - Asian and Pacific EBF - Europe NABF - North America SABC - South America - The names are regional to the best of my ability - The dates of birth and career start dates align with my universe, which is currently in 1902 I have done five so far and will post the rest as they are finished. Please feel free to post any stiff / tomato can sets that you may have created as well.

I was just gonna go looking for some more TC's for my universe, so this should come in handy, thanks. From the post title I kinda thought this was going to be a commentary on the current HW division, becasue they are all a bunch of stiffs. :]

I saw the title and figured this was another Rahman/Toney thread.

Good work Chris. Always good to to have more TC's around. Are you going to be posting more? Also how do you come up with names for them? Do you use a random name generator?

For the names, I have lists of names from various countries and/or regions that I have scraped up. If anyone knows of an easy to use name generator, I'm all ears. (Most of the ones that I found were for generating fantasy names; I would rather not have boxers[even the fictional ones] with names like Mollicoot the Troll Slayer.) Christopher

(note that when/if you use these, they will appear as duplicate records upon import, you need to say yes to import anyway and no to overwrite, then they will import just fine. This is because they are all using the same tomato can template from cornerwork with the name, country and division being the only altered fields.)

Name generator
Chris;
This site will generate ethnic and regional names by country, for the sake of realism, if anyone's interested: http://www.gaminggeeks.org/Resources/KateMonk/

Mark:
I already use the name lists at that site but your use of the word 'generator' is interesting. Is there a name generator engine at that site that I am unaware of? That would be great, but I have seen nothing of the kind. Christopher

What I meant to say ...
... was that it lists names and surnames most commonly used in each region or country selected, and one can mix and match those to create the new fighter names. The only list generated is the site founder's general research, based on the criteria of the person searching. There is no random generator that I am aware of ... the various lists are enough for me.

Here's one that looks okay nevermind it blows actually it's alright but it gives first and middle names no last names but just looking at a few the first and middle name would probably fit as a first and last name ... I wouldn't know any better http://www.behindthename.com/random/ Last edited by mh2365; 04-10-2006 at 12:40 PM. |
