3B insists on pitching

Hi all,

During spring training, I tested a third baseman at pitcher. (I'm in the Vintage Baseball League, and we're in 1882, when players' positions weren't always defined as crisply as today.) He did not do well, so I changed his position back from MR to 3B. But thereafter, he continued to pitch in spring training games!

More worrisome, my team home screen lists him as a member of the bullpen, even though I don't see him in my pitching roster, I've checked "force start at 3B" in his "game strategy," and (as I mentioned) I've changed his position back to 3B.

I had hoped the start of the regular season would clear him from my bullpen, but I still see his name there. Opening Day is tomorrow; maybe that will change things.

Is there any way to manually change who's listed in the pitching staff on the team home screen? More generally, should I be worried this guy will storm the pitching mound every game of the regular season?

I had the same problem with Babe Ruth. Once his pitching overall dropped to 1 star, I made him a RF. But then I noticed that he still started 36 games as a pitcher!

So (being in commish mode, I just went into his editor tab and 'zeroed out' his pitching experience.

I suspect you can do the same with your player.

Thanks for your reply. I'm in an online league, so I guess my commissioner would have to edit the file. If the problem persists, I'll ask him to help.

Thanks again for your advice.

Thats odd. I moved Babe Ruth from SP to LF/RF in 1931 at age 30 and he never pitched again. I did not control any team in that league.

The regular season has started, and my 3B pitched 1/3 of an inning, despite my best efforts to keep him off the pitching roster. I've set his position to 3B; I've removed him from the pitching roster; I've checked "force start at 3B"; and I've limited his pitch count to 1, but the AI still wants to bring him in. I guess I'll have to ask my commish to help.
