Most K's in a single game?
What's the most strikeouts you have ever seen in a game? My team just struck out 19 batters in 9 innings, and 24 in 13.

19, Steven Taylor, London Doctors vs. New York Ghostbusters, 8-4-2016.
Nolan Ryan also had 19 in my now-fried league a couple times too, as I recall.

18 is the current record in my long standing fictional league. I don't have the league open but I think it's been tied 5 or 6 times.

Two players have struck out 20 in a game in my fictional league, they both look like future HOFers.

This thread got me thinking about the real-life strikeout records:
Strikeout Records set by Teams : A Baseball Almanac Record Book I was shocked that the 9-inning game record was still 20....figured with the dramatic increase in strikeouts since 2010 some team would have punched out 21 times (obviously just not against one pitcher; that would be huge news). |

I think Strasburg has the NCAA (maybe only D1) record for a single game with 23 IIRC.
I've never seen more than I think 17 in OOTP. |

The record for the Baseball League is 14 by Willie Dykes of Sheffield United (First Division) on July 15, 1912.

Dward1, were those all relievers in your game? Looks like the starter got pulled early is why I ask.
In games I manage my starters usually do the 90% effort thing pitching to contact and all so they can go six or seven innings at least. Then the relievers with only 2 pitches, but good ones, come in and throw their hardest for an inning or so each. The relievers thus rack up more strikeouts per inning than the starters on average. |
