A Spritze only MLB player DB
Been looking around the various mod spots, and can't see it- could you point it out to me...
Want the spritze HS db (players at 18) but only players who played in the majors, no minors, asians or negro league players. I do like the full db, but want to try something else out... Thanks |

Ain't no such animal - the old Gambo db is the closest.

I'd say open the DB, sort by the column that states their league (pretty sure I saw that in there) and delete those guys.

When you say open the file "historical database" or the master file? would I have to touch the batting, pitching fielding files? The sprtz db does not list every player who played mlb with a team, some are open free agents, so one has to look over the list to not delete some real major leaguers I would be willing to give this a try... |

Open the master.csv in Excel
You can see the column where Spritze has put Negro Leagues, Japanese Leagues, PCL in one of the columns. You can hightlight those players and delete them, thus they won't import. Spritze can probably confirm this will work on 15, it worked for me on 13, I haven't seen a problem with it on 15 yet. I usually delete the "Ballplayer","LastName" players from old PCL/minor leagues

I am still learning how the db's work. Actually they kind of fascinate me.
Do I delete the player in the master file? Or in the historical DB? Second Q. Spritze told me this once but it never worked. If I change a value- say 10 to 30 hr for someone in a season in say the batters file- how to make part of the game? When I import the player, the old pre-saved value appears. It would save in the batting stats page, but not be in the game import. Thanks... |

OOTP defaults to use the historicaldatabase.odb file if it exists so make sure it does not exist. Then your changes will take effect.

I tried that again. Ran a test, but didn't work.
I edited a player for over 3 years in neutralized stats to be babe ruth, so there was no doubt of the change on import. Then deleted the hist db I imported the player's nuetralized. He came in, his real stats showed, but neut were blank and he was rated as a 199 hitter w 6 homeruns. So I went in and altered the same 3 years in regular batting stats. reimported the player ith real stats, now both new and neutr stat areas were blank, no batting history appears and he is still a .199 hitter. So I called in Ruth. He also also appeared with no stats for real life or batting history and was the same listed 199 5 hr hitter. What step did i miss along the way? |

The key would be that however/whenever you edit data it comes out blank. That is not the desired outcome. Something in the way you edit must cause this.
Be sure you are using the decapitated database but other than that you stop just shy of providing enough info about your editing process. Generically what you are describing is the way I edit the database successfully myownself.

OK here is what I did.
Opened the batting spreadsheets (both batting and batting2 as it turned out). Changed a players HR total 3 years in a row to 59. Saved the file. Exited out. Went to historical DB and deleted it from the file Went into the game and called up the player on the free agent screen. All data was blank. All ratings were poor defaults. But as I say, then calling up another player who wasn't changed, was also blank That's was it... |

Opened the spreadsheets with what?
Did you reimport the player after changing? You should wind up with 2 copies of the same player if he was already in the league. All player data get imported when the player first appears in OOTP. Changes made after that have no effect.

Right...sorry, detail
opened with open office spreadsheet imported the player into a fictional league where no such player existed. Yes I reimported the same player, so i got 2 But the third player- Ruth- had no changes made to any of his data and he came in blank as well |

Yes. I used excel and it worked fine. Though I made a change to the neutralized stats, and the regular real life stats came up blank (they usually come as well). I wonder why open office isn't saving the changes....
Reason for it, is I want to add a year or two on players in the db who have as their last season a very good stats year, so as to avoid a Bill Keister type who can play to 41 with a .320 average. This gives me something to work with now Thanks for your responses |
