Player Personalities and Coaching
Im getting ready to set up a historical replay from the last 100 years. I would like to get the team records and outcome to as real as possible. How much do the player personalities effect the outcome of games (season) do you suggest I turn them off or keep them on? Also how does the coaching system effect historical paly. should I turn that off?

It really depends on what type of historical replay you're looking to do. If your planning on using rating recalculation, you might as well turn off coaches, any changes they result in will be overwritten when it recalculates ratings each year.
As for the personalities they should have very little (insignificant) affect on the games played but could effect roster makeup and team cohesion. If your using real transaction then it has no affect, if not then it will affect how the team develops.

If you're looking to use OOTP more like a 'replay' sim, then you'll probably want to turn off player personalities, coaching, scouting, and anything else that is designed more for career play with fictional aspects. You might even want to use a 1-year basis for recalculating player ratings before each season. And, of course, you can always use the options for real life transactions and lineups. When you create your game, you have the option to set it up as a replay style simulation.

a cup a coffee Cobb
To Charlie Hough and Gambo,
With recalc turned off, what's the chance of a Ruth or a Cobb being really bad? From reading posts from people who play with recalc turned off, it seems like hall of famers still turn out to be hall of famers. |

For the most part I've found they tend to turn out to be Hall of Fame caliber players, barring injuries etc.
