Historical league setup strategy help

I started a season beginning in 1901. Im confused about the settings. There are two columns. the left hand column has settings such as Relievers used very often, which they were not, and pitchers stemina low which was not. However the right hand coloum has the actual years statistical results. Do I need to choose the correct year under the drop down menu (1901) for the setting to change. When I do that I get a warnning sign that doing so will greatly impact the stat. results.

Yes you need to pick the correct year from the drop down menu. It seems like you have the default (2012) settings at the moment.

Yes, changing from 2012 to 1901 settings WILL greatly impact your stats. I assume this is what you want!

Or you could play from 1901 with 2012 hitting/pitching parameters, and find out how many homers Honus Wagner might hit if he played today!

hmmm-
I simmed out the first season in 1901 without changing the default and the numbers seemed pretty accurate other than the Saves and Complete Games.

In the sim game there were a total of 222 saves while in real life in 1901 there were only 17 saves. Im wondering if OOTP does not adjust how saves were determined in the early years.

As for CG. There were 338 in OOTP vs 976 in real life. Obviously the pitchers stemina needs adjusting.

Everything was right on or close to it.

One last thing. By historical replay does the AI try and create numbers that are exact or close to exact to the real thing? For example the batting average in both leauges were exact. Is this a conincedence or does the AI make sure they match by years end?

As far as the standings. There were some teams within a few games of there actual wins while others were not. I like some surprises, so thats a good thing.
