If a save file is corrupted, is a backup my only chance?

Not sure how it happened but I opened my roll-over game from the last three years yesterday morning and everything was bad. Everyone had a new name, a couple of guys on my roster were over 140 years old, and all sorts of other weird things.

Of course I forgot to back up my save when I imported in to XX, so I think I lost a year or two.

There's no real way I can hope to have that magically fixed, right?

There's a way to uninstall and reinstall the game files without actually losing saved game and that might fix it. It does fix some smaller issues if there's just something wrong with an update perhaps. You could try that

I'm on a Mac, so I guess I could try throwing out and reinstalling... I have a hunch it's not that though. Worth a shot, however, so thanks.

Ah, damn. No luck - I gave it a shot but apparently my stuff is too messed up.

My star 1B, Jim Unknown, is an infant or potentially still in the womb (it's unclear), while his backup is the wise old age of 139.

I like to think I'm playing in some sort of extra-planar baseball league.
