Will OOTP12 be on Steam or Gamersgate?
I bought OOTP11 last summer on gamersgate because I was tired of Baseball Mogul after quite a few years of playing it, now I'm wondering if it'll be on either DD service I mentioned since I typically only buy from them (OOTP9 was on steam but I never grabbed it there, and 11 is the only one on Gamersgate). I'm willing to pay the extra ten dollars but if it's gonna be a while before (if) they're on there then I'll just preorder now.

Ignore them. They obviously dont know very much about DD. It would be great to have it on both sites. Especially Steam.

Gamersgate is awesome. They sell some games that you can't get anywhere else, like EU3 with all the expansions, and they have some great deals you can't get anywhere else. I've bought like twenty titles from them and never had a problem.

If the gamer is on Steam you can create your own backup copy on disc for free.

I always purchase directly from here because when patches come out they are available here right away. When you go to a third party seller you run the risk of it taking longer to get patches as we saw last year with problems people were having. I do use Steam and other game sites to make purchase, but just prefer to get my OOTP right here

Agreed, that is a major reason as well

I don't like it when games require Steam, but I don't have a problem with it selling through Steam or GamersGate. They have some good sales and I get cheap games through them. It is true that digitial distributors sometimes take a while to get the patches, so that is a benefit from getting it through here. It is funny that some people treat you like you are a serial killer if you would consider buying the game from anywhere but here though (not in this thread). It's not like Steam or GamersGate is Walmart.

Gamersgate is just a sales channel, and is never a pain in the butt.

Gamersgate has some really good sales, specially on Paradox stuff. I pretty much check Gamersgate and Steam daily for their specials. Impulse does too, but I found them to be the worse of the 3 as far as getting patches in a timely manner.

Yeah, there's a huge Hearts of Iron sale going on right now.
I just bought Space Rangers 2 Reboot (DRM-free!) from Gamersgate for like nine bucks and am having a great time playing it.

Steam is great, but I actually prefer Impulse to some extent. Never really messed with GamersGate or D2D, though.
And a word of advice, avoid GameTap like the plague. It's a great concept with horrendous execution. |

What does it matter? If you're not purchasing from Steam (I'm not), why would you wish it not to be there? More sales for Markus, IMO.
I've purchased the game here, but I couldn't care less if he puts it on QVC or on an infomercial. Its his game to sell in as many outlets as he wishes. Who am I to be 'selfish' and hope that its only sold where I buy it? It doesnt cause me any troubles if its sold elsewhere. Last edited by Cooleyvol; 04-14-2011 at 12:18 PM. |
