Coach Boxes Blank
As I’ve upgraded my staff, I’ve noticed that when I let let average coaches walk and hire better ones, the coaching boxes at the bottom of the Personnel screen (namely Goalie, Offense, Defense and Skill) empty out when I let the initial guys go but do not fill with new names when I hire replacements. I have eight assistants, so it’s not as though there aren’t people to man these positions.
I’m wondering: - Is there a way to select coaches for these roles that I’m somehow missing? - Are these really holes in my staff that hurts my team somehow, or is it just cosmetic? Thanks! |

If you right-click the names of the coaches in the Staff list right above the boxes, it'll let you assign them to the specific roles.

Ha. I feel like I spent way too long clicking around that screen to miss something so simple. Thanks, Jeff!

Is there any information about how the skills are weighted?
For example, for a defensive coach, is it better to have 19 Coach Defense and 15 Defensive Skills, or the other way around? Do the skills that aren't listed in the box have an effect? Do unassigned coaches have an effect? |

Defensive skills are preferable for the Defensive coach - Coach Defense is the rating that adjusts how well he trains defencemen (which answers the second question as well, I guess.)
Unassigned coaches do have an effect, when determining how a player is affected by coaching the system looks at the ratings of the three assistant coaches that can help him the most as well as those of the head coach. |

I'd like to add another question regarding the Coaching Staff. (sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything)
When I'm GM/Head Coach some random (?) coach of my staff gets assigned to be the "Assistant Coach", in this case goalie coach Mike Bales (shot-1) My main question is: what's the exact role of this coach, what is he doing? Also: how can I assign a different guy to this role? There's no "Assign Assistant Coach" option in the right-click dropdown menu. When I assign a different guy to be the goalie coach nothing's changing with the Assistant Coach (shot-2), and when I'm releasing the Assistant Coach another random (?) guy will be the Assistant (shot-3). So, what's it all about with that Assistant Coach guy? shot-1 shot-2 shot-3 thanks |

I believe that's only cosmetic right now - I think we had plans for that spot to control some behind-the-bench functions if the player delegated them to an assistant, but that wasn't implemented (yet.)

ok so it's more or less a placeholder spot (right now), thanks for the info.
