Prevent duplicate players on same team?

I just started and tried to build up my bullpen. However, I accidently bought players I already had. Since the game allows me to buy the same player, why doesn't it allow me to play them both? If I can't play both, then there should be a safeguard in place or warning to prevent this.

If you don't know who your players are I think you are not playing this game hard enough…

Look for one position upgrade at a time if you have to:
1. Look at your roster and decide on your biggest weakness.
2. Go to AH and search that position only until you get more proficient.
3. Scroll down to your budget
4. Look for an upgrade that fits your strategy. You do have I plan?
5. Bid on or buy that player.
6. If you bid note the time left and check back to see if you need to up the ante.
7. When you win an auction it should be a new better player.
8. Place him on your roster and set your lineup.
9. Look at your roster for next weakest position.
10. Rinse and repreat.

ha ha. The point I am trying to make, if you can have duplicate players, then you should be able to play them both.

In all seriousness, the suggestion to filter out cards you already own from displaying in the auction house has come up and something like this is apparently still on the to-do list.

The players you already owned should not be available in the auction to buy again. Hopefully Markus can fix this.

Today's update will highlight already owned cards as red in the auction lists.

I know the fix is already in place, but I just want to point out - not showing cards you already own by default isn't the way to go, because some people enjoy flipping cards in the AH. Just because I own a Mariano Rivera card, I wouldn't want to be precluded from seeing another Rivera card that's about to sell for cheap, in case I want to buy it and try to re-sell later.

The highlighting that they're implementing is the way to go.

I disagree with that. If someone enjoys the auction house part of the game I have no problem with them buying players they already have for low prices and trying to flip them later for a higher price. They can receive duplicate cards in packs, I don't see any reason they can't get a duplicate through auction.

I'll bid on several of the same player at the same time if the prices are right.

Though like the OP said, why not allow people to play duplicates? It would be interesting. They're different cards, and the players has acquired those cards fairly. That would make a great theme team.

I see all your valid points. I'm fine with cards being in red, good fix Markus, thanks.
