1945 Season

Standings:

In what could be upset of the decade, the 4th seeded Winnipeg Maroons somehow managed to win the Phillips Cup in 7 games. To add to the miracle, the Trois-Rivieres Eagles ended up blowing a 3-1 series lead in the finals.

With the war now over, things start to go back to normal.

Standings:

Sometimes, karma can hit even after you do well. This year, it was Winnipeg's turn to blow a 3-1 series lead in the Phillips Cup.

1949 Season

A very rare situation occurred during this season, as there was a three way tie for the 4th seed in the west division. Winnipeg would end up winning the tie breaker and advance to the playoffs.

Standings:

The Montreal Royals stop the Black Sox from going 3 in a row to win the Phillips Cup.

1950 Season

Standings:

The Saskatoon Quakers win their first Phillips Cup, and become the last (I think) of the active teams to win a championship in either the split-league era or the CBL era.

The Quebec Carnavals change their name to the Quebec Capitales.

Standings:

I think I've lost count on how many Phillips Cups the Montreal Royals have won.

1956 Season

Wanting to jump in on the trend of rebranding, the new owner of the Saskatoon team, Jim Peters, decides to rebrand the team from the Quakers to the Lions. He also has a new 16,000 seat stadium in the works, which is expected to be completed in time for the 1958 season.

Standings:

After coming just one win short of tying the 1947 Montreal Royals for most wins in a single CBL season, the Regina Roughriders finally win the Phillips Cup in their third straight appearance, and their second straight appearance against the aforementioned Royals.

The Ottawa Nationals take down the Regina Roughriders in the Phillips Cup. I don't know about you, but if Regina can keep this up, we might have a dynasty on our hands.
