We released a beta patch here that should fix the crashing when trying to advance issues. Can you guys please test it and let us know how it goes?

No dice. It crashed.

It's frustrating because it worked perfectly up to 7.59. It all went south when I installed beta 8.63. Is there anything in the default settings - especially with 3D - that may have changed from 7.59 to 8.70?

Can you try this?

Go to your saved_games folder and create a new folder for your league. Name it anything you want, just make sure it ends in .lg

Then take all the .dat files from the league folder of the league that's crashing. But don't take any of the other folders or graphics etc. just the .dat files, nothing else.

Then try to load the "new" league in the game. Does anything change?

Also, can you try to disable virus scanners and all other programs running in the background?

Nope

I'm going to try a complete uninstall, then reinstall 7.59 to see if I can at least get through a game. Last time I did that I was getting the same problem, but maybe it'll work this time.... I dunno. I'm desperate!

When you do the manual uninstall, there's an important step that you might not've done that could help.

Remove everything from here: C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 19\

"Appdata" is a hidden folder. One way to find it is to go to the start menu and type in %appdata% (include the percent symbols) in the search bar down at the bottom left and then browse to the config folder and remove it.

Also, when you reinstall, try reinstalling to a different folder than you'd installed to in the past. Maybe even make totally new folder for OOTP, like C:\OOTP19 and try installing there.

OK, some good news. I deleted the appdata folder, uninstalled, rebooted, clean installed of 7.59, and it worked. Previously, nothing worked after 8.6+. Even after a roll-back.

I'm going to screen capture the 3D settings from 7.59, clean install 8.70 and see if something is different, then try it out. Be back soon.

OK, here's an update with my machine.

I could NOT get 8.70 to work. I uninstalled, clean reinstalled, deleted appdata, played with the settings... no matter it kept crashing. But what I did learn is that it is most likely a 3D and Facegen issue. When I shut off both features in settings, I was able to play a text only game.

What I can't understand is, what could have possibly changed between 7.59 and 8.6X that would have caused such a meltdown? Did overlay scaling cause it? I turned it off, turned back on. Nothing. Crash and burn.

For the record, my specs are as follows:

Windows 7
Intel quad 3.07 GHz Xeon
nVidia 3800 FX graphics card
8 Gigs ram.

For now, I've rolled back to 6.57 (league association playoffs works in that patch). I guess I'll stay there? Unless there's another hotfix.

Short of actually sending my PC box (HP z400), if there is any other info I can give you to help, let me know!

Thanks for the update, the info is very helpful!

Next step, can we get a trace file from you?

To generate that on a Windows PC, do the following:

If you're on Steam, right-click on your game in the Steam library, then Properties, and on the General menu click on 'Set Launch Options' and enter the word "tracemode" (without quotes.).

If you have the standalone, right-click on the OOTP19 shortcut on your desktop, click on properties and add 'tracemode' to the command line

Then try to start the game again. Get it to crash.

After it does so, navigate to the following folder: Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 19\debug

Attach the trace file there and post it here. Thanks!

We'd need to know your exact system specs which can be obtained by an application called Opengl Caps viewer. You can download it here:
Download OpenGL Caps Viewer.

After you installed & started it, click on the tools tab and then on "export data" (see image). In the new window click on "txt export" (see image). Please post the text file here or simply copy and paste the text directly.

Thank you!
Markus

Thank you for all your help. You guys are the best. I'll get to work on this.

BTW. Right now I'm running 6.57 and it's working fine. I've created some games and they are all playing with no crashes. If I update to 8.70, what can I do to protect those games so nothing get's corrupted? I only ask because after I went to 8.6x, all the games I was in the middle of went up in smoke. Even a rollback couldn't fix them

Copy them to a totally different spot on your hard drive or to another drive, disk etc

The best way to save a saved game IMO is to "zip" the league folder. I use 7zip but any other zip tool will do. Just close OOTP, right-click the league folder ("/saved_games/your_league.lg") and ZIP it. You can then simply restore it by deleting or renaming the original folder and unzipping the ZIP file.
