Mega crashing with 19.86 This is pretty bad

OK, I'll do my best to give as much detail as I can:

Windows 7, PC, intel processor. I've uploaded my .dat file to the FTP server.

Everything was running perfectly with 19.7.59.

The problems began when I installed the beta version of 19.8.63. As soon as I did that, any time I tried to advance a saved game that was playing, the program crashed. I rolled back (reinstalled) to version 7.59, and the problem continued.

I installed 19.8.64, same problem. I did a full and complete uninstall, then reinstall of this version, deleted the my saved games and created a new one from scratch. The game will get as far as the manager screen (choose which team you'd like to manage) and it crashes. Let me know what other info you need.

Edit: my dat files are on the ftp server as "dat files for drksd4848_crash"

Yeah, there's definitely something wrong here, sorry We're taking a look at things and will get a fix out asap.

EDIT:

See Markus' comments below, I replied to this too quickly, thinking it was the same as the issue some folks are having with 3d in build 64. My bad, sorry

These files worked fine here. Please try a complete uninstall / reinstall and quit all programs running in the background.

Thanks for looking into this guys. Did the complete uninstall, reinstall thing, background programs off, etc... Still crashing.

Is there something I can turn on/off in the program settings to get the game to run in some sort of safe mode?

Ok, this seems a bit weird. Offhand I'm not really sure what might be happening.

Are you using a custom data directory for the game by any chance?

Nope. No custom data directory.

Although... Would having OOTP 18 Installed on your computer along with 19 cause any problems?

OK, guys. I'm dying. I've tried everything I could possibly try. Now after the complete clean uninstall and reinstall, when I try to create a game, it crashes when I get to the "choose which team you'd like to manage" page.

What should I do? Would trace mode help? Anything in the settings?

Sorry, we're a little swamped with the AMD/patch issues right now.

I'm just guessing here, since I don;t really know what might be going on off the top of my head, as this sin't a problem I've really run into before. That being said, I wonder if there's a write permission issue going on here, since what you're describing can be pretty similar to what can happen if the game can't write to the disk correctly.

Can you try setting a custom data directory and see if that changes anything?

To do so, open "Game settings" -> "Experts" tab and select another data path for OOTP like for example c:\OOTP19

Let me know if that changes anything or not.

Thanks for getting back to me Lukas. I'll give that a go.

BTW, A couple of hypotheticals I thought of last night:

- Would other programs installed on a computer cause problems with OOTP? I think I might have installed something in between 7.59 and 8.64.

- Would there be something in the default settings that changed between 7.59 and 8.64 that could effect it on a computer?

Again, thanks for all your help.

Possible for sure, what did you install?

I wouldn't have thought so offhand but given the issues we've had with 8.64 I can't rule anything out.

Can you try installing 68 and see if anything changes (or are you on Steam)?

BTW, FYI I went in last night and put it in trace mode (3D, facegen shut off). It created the game, but then crashed as soon as I tried to move forward to the next day

I'm experiencing the exact same problem on a Mac running OSX High Sierra. As soon as I try to sim a day, the game crashes without warning.

I'm inbetween award season and salary arbitration if that helps.

Processor: 3.1GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16GB
Graphics: Radeon Pro 560 4GB & Intel HD Graphics 630 1.5 GBs

EDIT: On creation of a new Quick Start league, simming doesn't cause a problem.

EDIT 2: I take that back, when simming in the new game, inbetween April 3rd and 4th SEGFAULTed, with the following dump: https://pastebin.com/j2HtTdqs. When I get home tonight, I'll see if this is the same on my Windows 10 Alienware.

I only started crashing with the HOTFIX update. I'm running a MacOS with the Mojave 10.14 Beta (18A365a)

I'm kinda regretting updating to the hotfix now.

The real rub with this is - for me - it was running flawlessly with 7.59. For kicks, I figured I'd give the beta 19.8.64 a test and that's when all the problems started. THEN, when I tried to roll back to 7.59, it kept crashing!

After installing the HOTFIX 19.8.69 I'm also experiencing crashes when I try to finish a day. The same problem occurs with different leagues.

I'm running a MacBook Pro with:
  • 2.9 Ghz Core i5
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB

I just installed 19.8.69 on my iMac tonight from the App Store. Same problem as others have mentioned here. As soon as I try to advance to the next day in my season, the game crashes. This wasn't an issue until I installed the update tonight.

Hi guys, it looks like my crashing on macOS, High Sierra 10.13.5, is due to a seg fault caused by the update_injury function under the player class- on second look, looks like others are having the same issue.

For everyone other than drksd4848, the problem is a bug in the hotfix that we'll have another patch out to correct today.

drksd4848, I don't think that this is your problem since you're started sooner, but it will be worth trying to install the new patch once it comes out to see if it helps, as it might take care of the issues you're having as well.
