How to make sure Indy leagues have enough players?

I'm in 2030 of a save with just MLB and MiLB, and added US Indy leagues to the world. Is there any settings I need to change to make sure there are enough players to go around, or does the game do that automatically?

Indy leagues only sign free agents. No randomly created ones and no drafting.

If you don't have service limits or roster caps in your Milb you might possibly get in trouble.

As long as there are free agents to sign the Indy teams should be ok

You can have a draft for Indy Leagues. You can also have fictional FA's automatically created. These choices are in league setup.

If i create a draft, will the quality of the players be MLB quality or more appropriate for Indyball?

Edit: What about the "automatically create free agents" thing?

They will be the quality of your league.

Huh, what do you mean which one? The league that's drafting. The league you set to have the draft. Your Indy league, that's the only league you mentioned that I'm aware of.

Am I understanding correctly that perhaps the missing link in this conversation (which caused the confusion) is that when you create your independent league you will also be selecting a level which it will be equivalent to (major league, AAA, AA, etc.)? So depending upon which level you set for the independent league, that will be the level of quality of the players in the draft, yes?

I ask partly because I am considering adding an independent league to my fictional world and still don't know much about this so learning vicariously through this thread.

Okay so I've got my Indy leagues set up. Now, how do I either:
A. delete the prior stats of all indy players but not others
B. delete all indy players so that I can fill them up with fictional players

B would be preferable

Independent leagues are "Independent" - they have their own designation in League Setup for "League Level" It's not AAA, AA, etc. Independent has it's own selection. If you have a separate draft for your Indy League, the players will be Indy League quality.

You can also choose the "League Reputation" which affects how attractive it would be to FA's from another league who may want to sign there (if you have that option enabled). MLB is Level 10 for example, the highest.

Go to league setup, make sure to select the Indy League from the drop down top right. You can "Clear Rosters" to empty teams of all players and use the "Fill Teams with Fictional Players" option afterwords.

Be advised, when you release the players "Clear Rosters" they will go to the FA pool.

Yeah, I want a way to delete them without them going to the pool.

Then your other option is do it one team at a time. Go to each team page, select the "Players" tab, then mass select all players and delete. Shouldn't take too long unless you have a lot of teams.

Okay thanks for all your help

Why is that not a feature though? This is what people are talking about when they say perfect team resources should be put elsewhere.

Why is what not a feature?

Perfect Team resources do not take away from the core game. I'm not sure why people insist on believing that, when Markus has made it clear that's not the case.

You're welcome for the help.

The draft with only be Indy level if you aren't using challenge mode.

If your in challenge mode and it's a USA Indy leagues the modifiers will be based upon USA for creating draft talent. As draft talent is based on location. In challenge mode these modifiers can't be changed.

You're probably not using challenge mode but for those that are.

Ah, yes, I think it was league reputation that I was thinking of.

To delete all players in a given league, that should be a function we can use.

And do they spend not resources on perfect team? I doubt those programmers are just working for free. Just saying.

I just explained to you 2 ways to delete all the players in your league.

So how is it not a function in the game?

I guess you have inside information do you? I guess you know better than even Markus does what's going on in development do you?

More unfounded speculation.
