Atlantis Baseball Federation
ATLANTIS The Atlantis Baseball Federation (ABF) is a fictional baseball league set on the Lost Island of Atlantis, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The game is set in 1880, when the island was discovered by a group of explorers. Atlantis is nearly 130 years advanced in technologies, in part to help from the gods. However, their isolation from the rest of the world has staggered their potential of becoming an economic superpower. The currency they use are Zeusez (∑). The Atlantean people share names with the ancient Romans, Greeks, and Romanians, hinting at their origin, while a minority hold English and Hispanic names. They are rather short in height, but muscular nonetheless. The season consists of 80 games, in a round-robin format where each team plays another 16 times. A brief history of their discovery. Atlantis. Noun : a legendary island mentioned in mythology. Or, is it? The year is 1879, and Joshua Slocum, an American, Nova Scotian born sailor and adventurer, has gathered his belongings in an English inn, the Durbie Tavern, where he had resided for the past 997 days. He and his crew had sailed from Boston, Massachusetts to Penzance, England just three years prior to assemble with some prominent seamen in the United Kingdom. The mariners shared and discussed routes and directions to sail the world free of trouble. After a brief stay. Slocum had determined his decision to voyage back to the States, for a hasty stop back home, in order to prepare for his mission. To circumnavigate the world. His buddy up in England, who he only knew by his first name, Charles, had requested Captain Slocum to travel through the Caribbean, down towards the equator, followed by a sharp turn eastward to the West Africas, up to Iberia, and the Celtic Sea, finally reaching Penzance once more. There, he would pick up some sailors, and continue back toward the South Atlantic Ocean, around South America, and onto Australia. An extensive trip, which he estimated would take anywhere from two to four years. Slocum hoped to make some discoveries along the way, but he soon learned that what he found was no ordinary discovery. After an 18-week voyage which took him back to the U.K as planned, Slocum and the men set sail for a stop in Brasil. Weeks passed with little issues, although Charles did get seasick. But, on Week 3 - Day 17, a moderate wave had taken the ship off-course, something the crew had not accounted for. This slight alter on board was just enough to to disorient the ship seven degrees, and delay the trip 10 days. This, however, was no big deal for the experienced crew, as they would simply redirect the ship on an arched course to reach their destination. According to their map, a series of small islands known as the Azores would be soon approaching. Slocum and three other prominent captains, Cornelius, Juliano, and Banks, proposed a sojourn on the islands, to collect themselves, while a couple others, including Charles, believed they could make the trip to Brazil in their current status. After a heated discussion on board, the crew compromised on stopping by the Azores, so long as they take off for Brazil the following morning. After a short three hour ride, the island was finally in sight. However, the crew were promptly met with surprise as the island was considerably larger than expected. In fact, once they approached within a thousand feet, the island was so wide that the surrounding waters could no longer be seen. Luckily, panic was kept at bay, as the crew knew what they were getting into went they embarked on the mission. When the ship became within a couple hundred feet of the island, Juliano spotted a narrow opening. It was guarded by metallic gates and Griffin statues, but appeared to be the only entrance into the island. Now within 100 feet, the seamen spotted a rather large flagpole on the base of the gate, on the peak was a flag, blue, with drawings in white resembling a pitchfork and some wheat. Eventually, the gates do unbolt, and slowly the interior of the land appear before the crew. The initial shine of light is a sight Slocum will never forget. The sheer glare of the city is an incredible site, as the gates continue to unlock. Around the 1/4 mark of the opening, a behemoth of a building can be seen. Possibly a church, or a government building, Charles mentioned. At 50%, some of the building’s surroundings are discerned. To their disbelief, it consists of water. It appears to be some sort of circular, water channeling funnel built around the building. It’s a defense mechanism like no other. Finally, as the gate completely unfolds, the beauty of a major city is revealed. Atlantis. Last edited by thorpegiovanni; 02-17-2017 at 09:26 PM. |

Atlantis is divided into four provinces, "Atlantis" taking the northeast, "Hermesa" - in the northwest, "Neptuna" taking the west coast, and "Apollon" with the a major chunk of the south and central.

Although countless small, rural villages exist throughout the island, the population of the nation is mainly centered around the eight major cities:
-Athenal -Demetera -Hephaestuson -Irisan -Januso -Nemesia -Poseidonis (Capital) -Tychere Of these eight cities, six host ABF baseball clubs. Last edited by thorpegiovanni; 02-24-2017 at 01:23 AM. |

Athenal Wisdom (athe-nal)
The Wisdom have a strong, balanced, lineup with stars like Rosenfelt and Augustus. However, the number one overall pick in the inaugural draft, Alphard Octavius, was moved from Starting Pitcher to Closer as part of a mutual decision between the manager and Octavius for "the greater good of the team", as they felt the rotation was competitive enough without him. With no lefties on the entire pitching staff, Athenal may have a tough time preventing runs, and will hope to pull off some high scoring victories throughout the year. Demetera Olympians (dem-ee-ter-a)
The Olympians have a phenomenal group of batters, lead by first-round draft pick Marin Florescu to fuel a lineup full of power talent. Ace Ares Xenon will look to guide the pitching staff to a season of W's. They're also the only team going with 12 pitchers to kickoff the year instead of 11. Hephaestuson Sirens (he-fes-tus-on)
The Sirens look to pick up wins with their electric lineup, lead by the speedster Cates, contact hitter Marquez, and RBI driver Jones. Their rotation features plenty of star power, and Taylor heads the tough bullpen as Hephaestuson look to triumph on both sides of the field. Last edited by thorpegiovanni; 02-17-2017 at 10:09 PM. |

Januso Titans (jan-u-zo)
The Titans' strength appears to be in their arms, as the lineup is rather weak apart from their big boys, Shortstop Nicolae Constantine, and Catcher Cosmo Arya. The starting staff is led by Aeneas O'Connor and Mike Crump, who will look to carry the team for Closer Rallis to shut the door. Last edited by thorpegiovanni; 02-17-2017 at 10:09 PM. |

Poseidonis Neptunes (posei-donis)
The Neptunes enter the year projected to finish last in the league. While they hold Right Fielder, Nico Maliagros, known to scouts as the biggest power bat in the nation, the Neptunes' staff falls short in star power, especially in the bullpen where Poseidonis seem to lack a commanding middle-inning hurler. Tychere Giants (ty-kee-re)
The Giants grasp control of one of the league's top projected rotations, led by the youngster Sfarlea and southpaw Dracinski. The pen consists of four lefties and three righties, totaling in a rare 7:4 L/R ratio, which may come back to bite them in the end. A fierce season from Margot should be enough to make the Giants a force to be reckoned with. Last edited by thorpegiovanni; 02-17-2017 at 10:08 PM. |
