Infield in strategy problem - Page 2

I have seen the PBP and game log wrong a couple times.
No one on base, batter walks, next batter hits soft liner to pitcher who throws to first for double play. PBP and game log says double play at 3rd base. No indication in game log that the runner ever went to second base or third base.

Bringing the infield in is, of course, a risky strategy in real life, but OOTP 20 seems to make it riskier than I think it is in real life.

And one way it is such is that it seems there are infield hits in OOTP where the ball isn't thrown with the infield in, which that is extremely rare in real life (to be fair, I've been using the animations, so it's possible the text says something else, which is what really happened). The closest in real life it generally comes to an infield in infield hit (unless there's no force at home and the man on 3rd holds) is if they try to cut down the runner at home and he makes it anyway, and that may not even be scored a hit but a fielder's choice; I'm not sure how that's scored.

They might hold the ball at times, but that's when due to the infield being in the runner holds at 3rd, and they're afraid throwing to first to get the batter the man on 3rd may take off for home.

They generally wouldn't hold the ball if they have a play at home, because if they make the play they get it faster and the whole point of drawing the infield in is to take a chance.

The actual risk in bringing the infield in, of course, is that a ball makes it through the drawn in infield that the infielders could field at their normal range (becoming a "regular" hit rather than an infield hit) but fail to reach drawn in.

That's enough risk to make it a tactic that shouldn't be used a whole lot, but as it is it seems like the BABIP on ground balls with the infield in is close to.500 in OOTP 20. The actual BABIP on all grounders (infield normal) is low because while there are no strikeouts in that figure there are also no line drives, and the "feel" to me is that it rises too much when the infield is in in 20, and didn't in past versions.

That doesn't mean my "feel" is right, but that's how I perceive it.
