Into August we go... Races heat up.
8/1 St Louis Cardinal Max Butcher spun a 3-hitter against the Braves today to go to 8-7 3.63 in 22 starts for the Cardinals.
8/2 Disrguntled Cub Bob Stanley is not disgruntled Dodger, and apparently wants no part of remaining with the team he just got to! 8/3 Bill Wise (CHI) tossed a 6 hitter in a 9-0 win over the Braves today. Wise is 13-9 3.46. 8/4 INJURY NEWS Brooklyn SP 24 year old Mike Paxton (15-19 4.95 in 38 starts last year) will miss another 7 weeks with his sore shoulder. Paxton is 5-4 3.59 in 12 starts this year. 8/4 New York Giant 6th round pick Sterling Hitchcock (20) will be out 6 months after shoulder surgery. 8/5 INJURY NEWS Cubs slugger Alex Gordon could miss the remainder of the season with a fractured hand. The 27 year old was hitting .315-4-8 since his trade from Brooklyn. WEEK 16 AL POTW-Tommie Agee (CLE) 12-24 HR 3 RBI's 6 Runs (.245-9-52) WEEK 16 NL POTW-Shane Mack (NYG) 16-34 4 HR's 12 RBI's 12 Runs (.337-10-46 since being traded, .363-11-52 totals on the year) 8/7 INJURY NEWS Brooklyn lost the servies of 33 year old swing man Jim Turner (9-11 2 Saves 4.01 in 31 games, 20 starts) for the next 4-5 months with a sore shoulder. 8/7 21 year old Bruce Ruffin (NYG) stopped Brooklyn on a 6 hitter to move to 11-10 3.60 on the year. 8/10 Curt Schilling (CLE) threw a 6 hitter to win his 16th (very weird talking in 3rd person fwiw). Schilling is 16-10 2.29 on the year. 8/13 Roger Wolff (SLC) tossed a 2-hitter over the Cubs in a 3-0 win. The win moves him to 9-19 4.24 in 28 starts.
8/15 George Winter (WAS) shutout the Yankees 5-0 on a 4-hitter to move to 16-9 2.59 in 29 starts. 8/18 Terry Larkin (A's) shutout the Yankees on a 4-hitter to move to 14-14 3.79 in 31 starts.
