Rule V Draft Issues

Seems that the same issues in previous versions remain with managing rule V draft in online league play. In-eligible players are showing up in pool and rule V drafted players on the active roster when released/or DFA do not get returned back to original team properly or financially correct.

This should work correctly on most setups, certainly with the default settings. It may be that there's a custom setting messing things up. So we'll have to take a look at your specific league to try to figure that out.

Would it be possible to upload a league file both before the Rule 5, with the in-eligible players are showing up in pool and after as well, with a specific example of an active player who doesn't get returned?

Thanks!

I had an issue on the first season with the rule 5 draft. My example is Elvis Luciano on the Blue Jays being on a minor league roster when I started my game in Challenge mode. I then traded him and the receiving team had him in the minors for the start of the season (I am up to 4/9).

My issue is with the game not allowing me to return Kyle Dowdy from the Mets.

When I selected release it said I would be charged his salary (as with an actual release). This should not be the case, he should be returned to his original team.

This is in the standard 2019 season.

I believe the salary charge is cosmetic and does t occur when you send him back.

It is Rule 5.

There is no Rule V.

I believe the issues with the real life guys in the roster set are known. Might not be something we can control if the AI assigns them directly to the minors when the game starts.

If you have one of them in MLB to start off and try to demote them, does the game respond then or just let you do it?

I have a related question about Rule 5 eligibility. I've been perplexed by players being marked with the "#" to indicate eligibility, when they have as few as a couple of years of pro experience. I finally noticed, these guys were drafted at age 18, but didn't sign. Then they were drafted in college, and signed. It seems as if Rule 5 eligibility is being computed from the first time they were drafted, but by my reading of the MLB Rules it should start from when they sign. Am I reading this wrong? Or is this a bug?

It might be a bug, based on what you're describing.

Do you have a league file you can post for us, with the example of a specific player or two to look at?

Players who are released and sign with a new club are immediately eligible for rule 5, but should not if they end up drafted the 2nd time. So yes, if you have a league file and some sample players, that would be ideal for us to be able to see what may be happening there.
