Team Friendly Extensions
Is anybody else noticing that many players from the AI teams are signing very team friendly deals? Im not sure how to screenshot, but Filip Forsberg signed for 2,140,000 per year over 4 years and while putting up a 58 point season and being a 5A. Also had a few more:
Jacob Trouba 4 Yrs 1,960,000 per year 4A Sean Monahan 4 Years 2,340,000 per year 4A 65 Points Steven Stamkos 6 Years 7,910,000 per year 5A 82 Points The Stamkos one I don't find near as unrealistic just wondering if anyone else is noticing this. Thanks! Haven't noticed it with AI so much, but I have definitely abused this with my own players. I signed a 23-year old top pairing defenseman to a 5-year deal @ 2.64M, and a 24-year old 4.5/5.0 goalie to 5 years @ 2.03M.

One major issue with this is say for example a really good free agent is looking for only a 2 million a year deal but he should be worth around 5 million if you compare him with other players in the league. You can easily just offer him something like 3 or 4 million and you'll end up signing him every time since it's unlikely the AI will pay over asking price for him but at the same time it's still a great deal for you because you are still getting a great player for less then he's worth. This is a big issue that needs to be fixed. Other wise it's just way too easy to stack your team.
I have brought this issue up before and the developers are aware of it but the problem is the AI is not smart enough to deal with tough cap issues which is why you often see these short term low money contracts. It's a shame but hopefully it can be fixed in the future to more mimic real life if they can improve the AI intelligence. |

Just out of curiosity, what is Trouba's and Monahan's GR for those seasons and how old were they prior to the extension?

Trouba had a game rating of 75 and was 21 prior to the extension, while Monahan had a game rating of 78 and was also 21 prior to his extension.
