well i was behind the curve as i picked up the demo and tried it once then i deployed so i didnt start till version 10 and when i started i took off like a rocket and joined POTD an online league that is just moving to 14 this yr from 12 and bam over 60 Trade by the trade deadline my first season a quick one yr rebuild and i was in 1st /2nd most of the yr in the toughest division in the league where 3 teams and sometimes 4 battle it out for 1st place . then i jumped into another league MLNB version one lasted 1 season then reboot version 2 lasted 3-4 season is i remember right then epic explosion of the league and i didnt return for version 3 or 4 , good commish just not so good co-comishes . i finally got into The Show and im still there that was my 1st year with the game lol . i played solo but found online so much more fulfilling. i picked up on the game very quickly and ran with it and now i help co-comish the very 1st league i joined POTD . was very excited . im in a niche and in 4 leagues and im set for life MTBL is a nice league i picked up in 2011 i think if i remember and i was in a league that disbanded after a season that was 7th inning stretch was a good league tho. but i think in the few yrs i have been able to play its been great . I played Baseball mogul prior and found it sadly unfulfilling and found myself looking at its baseball and football game wondering why the ratings are so low on players and where is the online part that goes with the game and where are the features , i player it online but found it unfun and just kept playing till i could stop deploying long enough to play another sim game and once i tried ootp that was it i was hooked .

But now ... OOTP 14, what a masterpiece!!!

OOTP2 in 2000. I finally found a game that supplanted Earl Weaver II, which I'd been playing since 1992. So I put in about a month of Excel work, converted my Earl league into a Lahman Database clone and converted to OOTP2.

The only hiccup was that the game, at the time, didn't import current year numbers right. Something about the Lahman import was designed only for historical, and the real Lahman dB didn't have 1999 updates yet. So I got everyone's career stats except for 1999. I went back and edited most of the better hitters and a lot of the pitchers to add that year back in. But I still run across a veteran player who's missing his 1999 stats (I play one day at a time, so game-year matches real life calendar-year), and I'm sure that screws up records and all-time rankings in a few cases. I always planned to go back and fix that, but never have gotten around to it.

I didn't realize it until now, but the 2012 season marked a milestone - I played one year on Pure-Stat on the Commodore 64, three and a half on Earl I, and seven and a half on Earl II. So 12 years of the CBL on other platforms, and now 13 on the various OOTP versions.

I tried the one when OOTP was part of SI but having absolutely no knowledge of baseball I couldn't really do anything and barely played. Got into baseball sims (still not baseball) around 2009/10 with Baseball Mogul on offer somewhere, picked up some basics about the sport and moved on to OOTP once I knew what was going on.

Had OOTP11 through 14 since.

OOTP 3 was my first version. Like many others I have not missed a version since my first and I don't intend too.

I started playing games like APBA and Replay when I was a kid. I thought that the computers games were okay, but they didn't have any career play. I hadn't heard of OOTP and was just looking for a baseball simulation game just to see what was out there. Google at the time found OOTP, and I started with 6.12. I got 6.5 and played the free 8 version. I had to stop gaming altogether for a little while. Work got NUTS! But now that it has settled down again, I am going to either get 13 because the price is good, or maybe just splurge and get 14.

I started with OOTP10. Played another game thought it was ok, then a guy on another forum posted his OOTP story. I thought I need to get that game now! So I came here and ordered the game haven't played another baseball game since, I mean when you play the best game, why bother with anything else.
I will add if I mess up my postgraduate studies, I will have to sue everyone involved in OOTP.

Version 10 I think. I found baseball mogual and was playing that for a bit. Saw a review on operationsports for OOTP and have been hooked ever since. I spent about 2 weeks creating my own league and making my own jerseys and caps in photoshop.
