10/5 and Waivers
Question for you guys, if we have an online league player exercising his 10/5 rule, if his team puts him on waivers, would another team be able to claim him?
Wondering if the 10/5 rule trumps waivers. I can't seem to find how it works in real life by googling it either, so I figured I would ask here. Thank you in advance. JD And I read this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=187586 But it still doesn't really answer the question. Last edited by The_Niddler; 05-08-2018 at 09:24 AM. |

There's not much point putting them on waivers unless they have waived their 10/5 anyway, is there? All you can do is release them, since they are probably not going to let you demote them either.

IRL a player with 10/5 rights (based on the 5) also qualifies for all guaranteed money should he be waived. No idea if OOTP conforms to all aspects of that.
It should. oops see here http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions

Related question for the developers - will a player ever waive their 5/10 rights? I mean, if you're on a crappy team with a chance to go to a contender, I would think waiving might be a smart move.
Never seen one waive the no-trade right, tho.

When they do it can be missed because there is no message.

True, but those players would generally be good players who I would notice if they swapped teams. Haven't seen it yet.

I've seen waivers; back in the good old Barry Zito contract days it took many tries to find something he'd take.
I've occasionally gotten around no-trades too, but not with enough regularity to analyze how, I'm usually too relieved to be finished with a guy.

I have seen players waive their 10/5 rights in online leagues. More often than not they won't but I have seen it happen.

there are exceptions to this but sometimes I have found that if I don't play a player for a week or two he would get ticked off and would allow a trade when you go to trade screen. As I said it doesn't always work but it depends on your situation if you want him to sit or not
