Question about aggression attribute
My question is whether there is any benefit to a higher aggression rating for players? Obviously a player who plays more aggressively is more likely to collect penalties but still, as in any sport, you want players who are aggressive to a degree. So is this attribute solely related to how often he collects penalties or is there a positive element to it as well?

Aggression (Mental) The player's tendency towards physical aggressiveness. This is mainly based on the number of penalty minutes he gets per minute played (as opposed to raw PIM numbers, which would exaggerate the aggressiveness of players who get a lot of playing time. Values >20 will be more common here than for other attributes. Temperament Temperament is the player's tendency to react aggressively to an opponent's actions; a lower number means he's more likely to retaliate. In most cases, Temperament will be a near-opposite of Aggression. The attribute mainly determines the likelihood of the player taking a coincidental minor or fighting. If it's appropriate to the player (say, an aggressive player who doesn't take quite as many penalties as you'd normally expect from a player with his style), you can use Temperament to fine-tune his penalty totals - using that example, you might raise his Aggression rating a point or two higher than his penalty totals would normally suggest, but also cut his temperament by at least the same amount to keep his PIM at the right level. |

Seems written for a developer but in working backwards, I'm assuming aggression combined with temperament solely applies to penalties. I'm guessing the positive aspect I would be looking for in a player is bravery and determination then.

Determination is more about morale and how the player is affect by bad situations (losing team, send to a lower level, being bench). The higher the determination attribute is, the better the player is at coping with these kinds of situations.

I get it now. When I first saw aggression, even though I read the manual, I still wanted guys who were go getters (without the penalties)…lol.

A player can still be highly aggressive with a high temperament...those would be go getters. But they still rack up some penalties
