Ok - I figured since I play MLBTS and Madden, that OOTP 2008 is decent enough.

They're essentially two different games.
Since you mentioned Madden, as a comparison, OOTP16 is probably more improved from 8 than Madden 2016 is from say Madden 2002 |

you'll get real rosters and any ui improvements. the real question is whether the engine is the same and if you prefer to play with fictional players. if yes to both, then i'd say don't bother unless you like flashy new bells and whistles on the same exact game. And we should be having some kind of World Series price break for 16, if history does indeed repeat itself!

Go ahead and spend the money. Look at it as if you saved 1.37 pennies a day over the last 8 years for this game.

To answer the OP, Most definitely yes it is significantly better in just about every area. You will not be sorry you bought the game. I buy quite a few games every year but without a doubt OOTP is best bang for the buck you can get. If you like OOTP 8 you will love OOT 16.

Yes. Even compared to when I joined the series (OOTP 10) I would say its very worth it. Almost every facet of the game has been improved, but even the most basic of things like interface accessibility are worth it on their own if you enjoy this sort of game.
You can definitely tell the games are related to one another, but the experience is vastly improved between the two.

Yes, I believe it is worth the full price of the game. If you are concerned that $40 is too much, I think there is a very good chance you will see the game at a reduced price during the playoffs or upcoming offseason. I have been playing since version 4 and this latest edition is incredible. If you have enjoyed version 8, I would be very surprised if you did not love this one. Good luck...

It is amazing how much each version brings an improvement. I believe OOTP 13 was a huge jump, then it only gets better. I'd wait for the World Series special if I were you.

I can't really remember all the little improvements that were added, I've played the game every year since then so its all been a gradual shift, but I can tell you that you will not regret spending the money to get the current version of OOTP.

You could google search each OOTP since then (http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/ou...ark-baseball-9) but ultimately if you enjoy OOTP 8 today, you will absolutely love ootp16. It is absolutely worth the price and so much more advanced on many levels. OOTP 9 was my first and I couldn't ever go back.

Never had OOTP 8, but I did have 11, and 16 is better by leaps and bounds. Definitely a must-buy. Facegen, baseball card-making capabilities, home and away uniforms, ability to retire numbers, so much great stuff. And the mods....hellooooo addiction!
If you have the money, buy it now. If you're like me - dirt poor - wait for the probable World Series sale, or get an older version like 14 or 15. But upgrade, man, upgrade!

I have most of my downloads since 6 someplace on back up Cds and dvds, i should load them up and compare. I can tell you I have 12 through 16 installed right now and just from 14 to 16 the jump is amazing.

That means I am paying around 11 cents each day that I play. Yes, the game is worth $40.

Probably the biggest change in the game since version 8 is the scouting system. There used to be individual scouts that could be assigned to perform various tasks, like scouting the minors or the team's next opponent. It was very detailed and, unfortunately, very cumbersome for most users, so the scouting system was streamlined in subsequent versions. Other than that, v.16 plays just about the same as v.8, but v.16 has a ton of improvements that make it a vastly superior experience. Sorta' like the difference between baseball in 1871 and baseball today. Same basic game, but better.

The scouting system in FHM2 is very similar to the way scouting was handled in OOTP8. I wonder how long it will take before FHM2 players start complaining about how the scouting system needs to be simplified.
